Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro began by announcing the couples who finished in fifth through third place. That left the final two couples: Jason Mraz & Daniella Karagach, and Xochitl Gomez & Val Chmerkovskiy. DWTS fans are used to dramatic pauses, but jaws dropped around the country when the hosts announced they were cutting to commercial instead.

“Terrible ending by the producers of @officialdwts – First you cut to commercial when announcing the winner!! Then roll to credits as the winner’s being announced! 3 hr finale and fans/contestants still robbed for commercial breaks and too many recaps!” one annoyed X user wrote.
