Bravo’s Andy Cohen Defends Against Poor Hosting Accusation
Bravo’s Andy Cohen popped up in the headlines just before Thanksgiving as some fans were criticizing some major flaws in his reunion hosting skills.
Turns out, the Bravo personality was made away of the poor hosting accusations against him. So, he took the time to both defend and explain himself.
What did he have to say to himself? Furthermore, where did this criticism originate from? Keep reading for the details.
Reality Tea Rips Reunion Hosting Skills
In an opinionated editorial published just before Thanksgiving, Reality Tea offered Andy Cohen a list of suggestions to improve his hosting skills. For starters, the outlet claimed it was painfully obvious when Andy was hosting the reunion of a season he did not actually watch.
Many fans agree it feels insulting for Andy to host the reunion of a season he didn’t watch as he only knows what people have told him or what he has read. The solution offered was either to actually watch the season or decline the offer to host seasons he doesn’t have time to watch.
Bravo’s Andy Cohen Defends Against Poor Hosting Accusation
The co-host of Andy’s radio show titled Andy Cohen Live, John Hill, stumbled across the editorial. And, he quickly discussed it with Andy Cohen to get his thoughts.
Now, the Bravo personality admits his performance as host of the Below Deck Season 7 reunion was not his best. He, however, had a very good reason why. He suffered a pretty bad dog bite shortly before the reunion. Because of the dog bite, he admits that he just didn’t have his head in the game. Sadly, he recognizes that his head not being clear made Season 7 a bit of a “stinker” as far as his hosting is concerned. It, however, was NOT because he didn’t watch the show.
Andy Cohen proceeded to clarify that he DOES watch all of the shows that he hosts reunions of. In fact, he also agreed it wouldn’t be right to host something if he hadn’t watched the season beforehand.
Is He Biased?
The editorial also accused Andy Cohen of having very some obvious biases while trying to hide them. The editorial claims the host would grill certain cast members while tossing easy questions at others based on his own preferences. For example, Andy was accused of colorism when he ONLY seemed to grill Monique Samuels during The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 5 reunion.
Andy Cohen didn’t deny that he is sometimes biased toward one cast member. He, however, argued that hiding his biases has little to do with colorism. Andy argued: “That’s a completely different thing.”
Overall, Andy Cohen didn’t seem too offended by the criticism. In fact, he owned his hosting of the Season 7 of Below Deck to not be some of his best work. At the end of the day, he seemingly hoped people realized he was never going to be a perfect person. Likewise, he would always have opinions the same as anyone else who watches these shows.
So, do you think he did a good job defending himself? Furthermore, what did you think of the initial criticism? Share your thoughts in the comments below. And, come back to TV Shows Ace often for more updates on your favorite Bravo stars.
