Simon Cowell Announces Major Changes To Work Schedule
Simon Cowell has always worked so much that he called himself a “workaholic.” He put in countless hours on shows like American Idol and America’s Got Talent. However, Simon is making some major changes in his work life concerning the time he spends at work and home.
Here are the changes that Simon is making in his life and what it means.
Simon Cowell cutting down his work hours tremendously
Simon Cowell said he used to work almost 20-hour work days running X Factor and America’s Got Talent. He had no problem putting in the hours to become successful. However, now the 63-year-old TV personality has a new outlook on life. He wants to maintain a good work-life balance. According to Cowell, he refuses to work more than four days a week and has some solid rules in place for his days off.
In a recent interview (via The Sun), Cowell said that he has made sure to put more emphasis on his family life and less on his time working. He said he now only works four days a week and takes off every Friday. He said there is no reason to work on Fridays, and he refuses to do so, He also said that he won’t work, check emails, or even take calls after 5:30 p.m. He said he has dinner at 5:00 and then just watches a movie or spends time outdoors. He went on to say that no one should be working five days a week anymore.
As for the reason he isn’t working as much, Simon said that it is all about his family. He wants to spend more time with his 10-year-old son Eric. He said that his family knows when he is faking it, and he said that he wants to focus on his family. He would rather drive 25 miles to buy Eric a Pokemon card rather than work five days a week.
Simon Cowell still working hard the other four days of the week
Just because Simon Cowell is working fewer days a week, it does not mean he is not working just as hard. He still works hard on his four days a week while still spending nights with his family. He said he still has a strong passion for creating new stars through his TV shows.
This will also play out with the new format of America’s Got Talent this upcoming season. Instead of just having them push people through the rounds for the fans to vote on, they will now take a major role in the show. Like The Voice, the judges will create their own teams and then help them in the competition, hoping to see them win. Each judge will have 10 acts on their teams. The Golden Buzzer still is in effect, and they can also use their buzzer to steal acts from other judges.
The next season of America’s Got Talent premieres in January 2024.
