‘DWTS’ Whitney Houston Night: Who Faced Elimination?
Dancing With The Stars dedicated one of its many themed nights to music legend Whitney Houston. The late singer was reportedly a huge DWTS fan, so it was an excellent night full of entertainment and wonder. Entertainer Billy Porter joined the judges for the evening to score the top seven contestants as they competed for a spot in next week’s episode.
Now there are six couples left in the competition as they prepare for the semifinals and Taylor Swift Night. Who made it through to the next round and who said goodbye?
Keep reading to get the scoop!
The DWTS top seven pay tribute to Whitney Houston’s hits
Dr. Strange actress Xochitl Gomez and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy have been frontrunners all season long. However, they had several missteps during Music Video Night, including Xochitl’s sprained ankle. Their scores suffered a little bit, but they managed to come back stronger than ever for Whitney Houston Night.
They earned a perfect 40/40 for their Tango to “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)” and completely dominated the individual routines. But Lele Pons and Brandon Armstrong also performed exceptionally well before their elimination. Was a perfect score enough to keep them off the chopping block?
Whitney Houston Night featured a dance-off portion in addition to the individual routines. Reality star Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov won immunity during Music Video Night, so they didn’t have to compete.
The results of the dance-off were:
Cha-cha-cha to “So Emotional,” Xochitl & Val vs Charity & Artem
Winner: Charity & Artem
Rumba to “One Moment in Time,” Alyson & Sasha vs Harry & Rylee
Winner: Alyson & Sasha
Salsa to “It’s Not Right but It’s Okay,” Jason & Daniella vs Barry & Peta
Winner: Barry & Peta
So who left the competition tonight?
The top seven gave their best performances. But for one couple, it was time to say goodbye. Barry Williams and Peta Murgatroyd left the competition tonight, much to their fans’ disappointment.
However, fans and judges alike were pleasantly pleased with Barry’s performances this evening. He and Peta even managed to overtake Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach in the dance-off portion of the evening. Many of Barry’s fans agree it was a great end to his run on the show.
What did you think about tonight’s elimination on DWTS? Did you agree with the choice, or would you have opted to send another couple home? No matter how you feel, be sure to leave your thoughts and ideas in the comments.
Taylor Swift Night will be the theme for the semifinals episode. The fun kicks off next Tuesday night at 8 PM Eastern time, so tune in and see what happens next.
