Joy Behar Missing From ‘The View’ To Avoid Personal Stress
Notably, Joy Behar was missing from The View on Thursday for personal reasons. During the introduction, Whoopi Goldberg explains why Joy isn’t available for the show. Seemingly, each of the hosts understands the need for the panelists to take time away from the show.
Joy Behar’s Birthday Announcement
On Joy Behar’s birthday last month, she couldn’t contain her excitement. She announced a new venture. Within the episode, shortly after a commercial break, Sunny asks Joy a personal question. “Well Joy, aside from your birthday festivities, my understanding is that you have big plans ahead I intend to attend, but can you tell us a little bit about them?” she asks. Sara Haines jumps in, “Are you having a party?”
Happily, Joy Behar looking almost giddy says, “I’m glad you asked.” Jokingly, she says, “When I’m not sitting here being interrupted by you b***hes, I’m writing plays now! This is my new chapter.” As the audience cheers, Sara talks over them, confirming, “And they’re really good!” Laughably, Joy explains how it will work, “Five of those plays, they’re short, they’re for ADD people, these are one act, they’re called Bonkers in the Boroughs, and they will be part of the New York Comedy Festival, which is coming up in November.” Excitedly, the other hosts cheer her on for the new adventure.
Joy Behar’s Understandable Absence
After giving the greeting on Thursday, November 7, Whoopi Goldberg tells viewers where Joy Behar is, saying, “So, Joy is not here today because she is preparing for the premiere of her play, Bonkers in the Boroughs at the New York Comedy Festival.” Admittedly, Whoopi says, “We did not want to her be stressed and not ready, so, they’ve given her…” but Whoopi’s co-hosts interrupt. “In one of the plays. She keeps reminding me,” Sunny Hostin says. Then, Sunny reveals not only is Joy Behar writing and producing the play, but she is also acting in it.
Deferring to the co-host’s statement, Whoopi says, “So, that’s why she’s not here.” However, Whoopi continues, “But, we’ve got you, Ana. Always a pleasure.” Naturally, Whoopi was referring to Ana Navarro who is the part-time host that joins The View panel on Mondays, Fridays, and any time a host is out. Ana allows the other hosts to have flexibility in their schedules and take care of their personal needs as well.
Bonkers in the Boroughs
Significantly, Joy Behar is the author of the short play collection, Bonkers in the Boroughs, which consists of five plays. On the event site, it says the five “short quirky comedies” are about “New York families with all their charm and eccentricities.” Presently, they are premiering at the New York Comedy Festival, November 3-5. Particularly, fans can attend each at Manhattan Movement and Arts Center during four show times: November 3 at 7 p.m., November 4 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and November 5 at 3 p.m. Notably, each show is approximately two hours long. If you are looking for tickets check out her event page.
