Whoopi Goldberg Gets Cryptic, Time On ‘The View’ Running Out?
Whoopi Goldberg got cryptic on Wednesday’s episode of The View with talk of “being replaced” that had some viewers at home wondering if the rumors were true. Was her time as the moderator of the talk show running out? Would she soon retire?
If you missed yesterday’s episode of The View, keep reading for a recap of what was said and how they landed on this topic.
Whoopi Goldberg Gets Cryptic, Time On The View Running Out?
Whoopi Goldberg has been a co-host with The View since back in 2007. It was back in Season 11 when Barbara Walters announced she would be stepping in as the new moderator. And, she’s held the position ever since. At 67 years old, some fans of the actress and talk show personality can’t help but wonder if she plans to retire anytime soon.
On Wednesday’s episode of The View, the topic of Tucker Carlson’s shocking exit from Fox News was discussed on the Hot Topics segment of the show. Whoopi and her panel admitted they were floored so many people were surprised he was fired. Likewise, Whoopi Goldberg couldn’t believe Tucker had developed his ego where he felt he was untouchable.
Whoopi Goldberg admitted she thought everyone knew they were replaceable “by the age of 11.” She added that for anyone in any job, there was ALWAYS someone else who could also step in and do that job.
Was She Hinting She Could Be Replaced?
The topic of conversation wasn’t about her or anyone on her panel. But, fans of The View wondered if this was partly Whoopi dancing around the idea of her no longer being on the show. Was she trying to tell her viewers even she could be replaced? Many agreed it certainly felt like she put a lot of emphasis on the fact that NO ONE was immune to being replaced.
If Whoopi Goldberg were to retire, who would step in as her replacement? If production decided to pick from the current panel, fans assume Joy Behar would step in as the new moderator. Joy Behar has been a staple of the show for as long as anyone can remember.
Moreover, Joy has also openly admitted she enjoys filling in. Filling in as moderator when Whoopi Goldberg has to take leaves of absence. So, it is safe to assume she wouldn’t be opposed. Opposed to taking over the position if it was offered to her.
Are viewers at home reading too much into this segment? Or, was Whoopi Goldberg testing the waters on the idea of her leaving? Do you think The View would still be interesting to watch without her as the moderator? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
