Jonathan Jackson Shares Sadness Over Tyler Christopher’s Death
Known for his role in General Hospital, Tyler Christopher’s time on the soap opera did more than earn him a Daytime Emmy. Throughout the decade he appeared in the series, he acted alongside people like Jonathan Jackson who considered the actor his friend. Sadly, on Tuesday, news broke that Christopher passed away. With love and support pouring in, Jackson decided to remember the actor not for his role but for the incredible friendship he shared with him and the thoughtful gift he once received.
Other than working on General Hospital, Tyler Christopher eventually branched out, landing a role in Days of Our Lives. Although the actor only appeared on the show for two years, he left a lasting impact on costar Camila Banus. After his passing, she recalled his passion for acting. “When you work with a true artist you feel it, I did with Tyler. He was truly a gifted and kind man. He will be dearly missed. Rest in peace Tyler Christopher.”
Jonathan Jackson Lost A Brother
But before Days of Our Lives, Tyler Christopher found himself acting with Jonathan Jackson on General Hospital. From 1996 to 2015, Jackson portrayed the brother to Christopher’s character, Lucky Spencer. Although his appearance was on and off, the actor remembered the late star who passed away at the age of 50.
In a statement, Jonathan Jackson recalled the incredible person Christopher was. “He was a beautiful soul with so much compassion, love, humor and strength. I have so many memories both working together and journeying through different seasons of life together. I consider Tyler a brother as well as a friend. It never mattered how much time would pass between us talking, we were immediately present and back where we left off.”
Besides sharing a set, Jonathan Jackson explained how the late actor gifted a set of notes he still has. According to Jackson, “One of the last days working together we spent an entire afternoon re-writing our scenes because we wanted them to really mean something to us personally. Something very special happened and afterwards, Tyler had all of our notes placed in a huge frame as a gift for my departure.”
Not Letting The Bad Define Him
While many costars showered Tyler Christopher with praise, Jonathan Jackson didn’t shy away from his troubled past with addiction and the law. Not defining him, the actor insisted, “Through all the trials Tyler continued to fight back against the darkness, and be a voice for mental health, compassion and goodness in the world. I’m truly at a loss for words.” He ended his statement by reminding friends and family, “He will always be with us.”
Another Days of Our Lives cast member, Arianne Zucker, addressed the sad news, claiming to remember the star as “kindhearted and gracious”.
