Alex Trebek Honored By Wife With Pancreatic Cancer Fund

As a beautiful tribute, the late Jeopardy! host, Alex Trebek,’s family announces a pancreatic cancer fund in his name.

Alex Trebek’s Legacy

Sadly, the world said “goodbye” to beloved Jeopardy! host, Alex Trebek on November 8, 2020. Unfortunately, his death came at age 80, after he battled pancreatic cancer. In March 2019, Alex publicly announced he had Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Afterward, he provided updates to fans on his condition via social media and interviews. After hosting Jeopardy! for 37 years, Alex worked nearly up until his death. Furthermore, he passed away just ten days following his last day in the studio.

Alex Trebek’s Struggle And Strength

Surprisingly, Alex never let on how much his health was deteriorating. Instead, he cheerily wrapped up his final episode with business as usual, “Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for spending the time with us. We’ll see you again next week.”

Honoring Him With A Tribute Fund

Alex Trebek’s wife, Jean Currivan Trebek, and their three children, Emily, 30, Matt, 33, and adopted daughter Nicky, 40, bravely continue discovering life without him. They have been redefining the new “normal” since his passing three years ago. Alex’s wife, daughter, Emily, and current host, Ken Jennings, appear in the new tribute video that promotes the Alex Trebek Fund.

Stand Up 2 Cancer is a partner with Katie Couric and the late Jeopardy! host’s family for the Alex Trebek Fund. For this purpose, The Alex Trebek Fund establishes a way to help with critical research in treating pancreatic cancer. While still growing, the charity already has over one million dollars in contributions. Significantly, the announcement comes the week of the third anniversary of his death.

Ken Jennings’ Inspiration

In a heartwarming tribute, Ken Jennings shares how Alex Trebek truly was compelling to him growing up. In a genuine clip about the fund, he discusses his experience. Ken shares, “Jeopardy! was always big for me as a kid, so Alex was a big inspiration for me. He created this place, this space where it was safe to be a smart person. He was so good at it, so graceful, so perfect for the role, that we all thought the job was easy – and it’s not. Hosting Jeopardy! is incredibly hard.”

Alex Trebek’s Wife Stands Up

Alex Trebek’s wife, Jean, shares, “When Alex was diagnosed, we never thought in a million years it was stage four pancreatic cancer. I thought it would be a great idea to set up this fund at Stand Up 2 Cancer. And since he was all about the right answer, I think it’s very fitting this fund was established in his name. Hopefully, it will benefit thousands and thousands of people.”

Emily’s Call To Action

Emily, Alex Trebek’s daughter, encourages, “I hope that all of the fans and community of Jeopardy! really can lean in and show support for this. I think they showed so much support for my dad when he was going through his cancer treatments. I hope that they stand up with his great organization.”
