My 600-lb Life alum Cindy Vela had a rough journey with Dr. Now. She appeared in Season 9 and weighed 614 pounds. The Texas native was already bedridden when she sought the bariatric surgeon’s help. Her weight gain began after a traumatic experience when she was eight. According to her, she was molested by a family friend, and food became her source of happiness. Her condition got worse when her parents divorced. She also suffered from lymphedema and diabetes. Fortunately, a friend encouraged her to turn her life around. Cindy’s program with Dr. Now didn’t go as planned. She refused to comply with the surgeon’s orders, such as a strict diet and exercise. However, the My 600-lb Life alum still lost 40 pounds. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to qualify her for bariatric surgery. Her lack of dedication resulted in her early departure from the show. Her last reported weight was 575 lbs.

Did Cindy Lost Weight After Her Episode?

Cindy Vela remains in touch with her fans on social media. Though she’s been discreet about her physical journey. Some of her photos also indicate that she may still be struggling with her weight. In September 2022, the former My 600-lb Life star shared a rare photo of herself. While it’s unclear if she lost more pounds, some fans are still hoping that she will continue with the program despite her failed episode.

Cindy also took to social media in January 2022 to announce the passing of her stepfather, Raul Garcia Quintanilla, which is only a year after she mourned the loss of her niece Miranda Sue. The multiple heartbreaks may have hindered the My 600-lb Life alum’s weight loss journey. Regardless, she continues to stay positive online. Many of her IG posts are motivational messages about hope and becoming a better version of herself.

Cindy Vela also said at the end of her episode that she’ll try her hardest to lose weight despite parting ways with Dr. Now. The former reality TV personality also made sure that she’d eventually get her surgery and would use all the lessons she learned from her episode.
