Katie Thurston Reveals What Made Her Say Yes To ‘FBoy Island’
Former Bachelorette Katie Thurston is on a new dating show. What made her say yes to FBoy Island immediately? Keep reading to find out what she has to say.
Katie Thurston Implies Bachelorette Producers Manipulate Drama
At this point, Katie Thurston is a veteran when it comes to reality shows. She first gained attention as a contestant on Season 25 of The Bachelor, gifting Matt James an NSFW toy upon their first meeting.
Thurston didn’t end up with James, but she did end up as the lead for Season 17 of The Bachelorette. After a drama-filled season that saw her frontrunner, Greg Grippo, storm off the show, Katie Thurston found love and an engagement ring with Blake Moynes.
However, the drama seemingly followed the couple off-screen, and they ended their engagement just a few months later.
Katie Thurston has been open about the downsides of her experience on the Bachelor shows.
That’s one reason she said yes to joining another reality show. Thurston is one of the leads on Season 3 of CW’s FBoy Island.
Speaking to E! News, Thurston implied that one difference between the shows is the drama on the CW show is “organic,” whereas it was “manufactured” on The Bachelorette. Did she just call out Bachelor Nation producers for manipulating the drama?
“There wasn’t a lot of conflict behind the scenes or manipulation or disruptions. Anything that happened that was drama was real drama, and you appreciate that. When you start to get a sense of something being manufactured, you’re frustrated because time is so short,” Katie Thurston – E! News.
Based on her comments about her time on The Bachelorette, fans won’t see her pop up on the franchise again, right?
Not so fast.
Not Entirely Done With Bachelor Nation
In addition to FBoy Island, Katie Thurston will appear on an upcoming episode of Bachelor In Paradise. Her ex-fiance, Blake Moynes, is one of the contestants on Season 9 of the ABC show.
We don’t know exactly what Katie Thurston’s role on BIP is, but she’s likely only there to hand out a date card, not to look for love.
Thurston recently shared 25 things fans don’t know about her with Us Weekly. One thing that may surprise Bachelor Nation is that she lied to get on the show.
In a less scandalous revelation, Katie Thurston shared that she got the invitations to appear on BIP and FBoy Island “two weeks apart.”
Katie Thurston Reveals What Made Her Say Yes To FBoy Island
After such a bad experience on The Bachelorette, why would Katie Thurston agree to do another dating reality show? She told E! News that there are stark differences between the shows that made her say yes to FBoy Island.
Despite two prior seasons, Katie Thurston had never seen FBoy Island until they came calling. The first two seasons of the reality show aired on HBO Max. It was canceled in late 2022 but found a new home with the CW for Season 3.
Unlike The Bachelorette, Katie Thurston isn’t the only lead on the show. Model Hali Okeowo and influencer Daniella Grace join her in their own journeys.
The end goal of FBoy Island isn’t an engagement ring. E! News provides a summary of the show for newbies:
“A trio of female leads move to a tropical island with 24 single men. Twelve of those men are self-proclaimed “nice guys,” and 12 are self-proclaimed “FBoys.” The nice guys are looking for love, and the FBoys are competing for money. The women have to try to fall in love, and then they find out which guys are which.”
Katie Thurston was enticed by the possibility of winning money and love at the same time. She also loved that she had two women there to support her. “I loved it because being a lead on reality TV can be very lonely, and so to do it with two other women who are in the exact same role as you, it was just so much fun every night,” Thurston said.

Season 3 of FBoy Island was originally airing on Mondays. However, TVLine reports that the show is moving to Fridays starting on Nov. 3.
But a new episode will still air in the regular Monday timeslot on Oct. 30 before permanently moving to Fridays. That means FBoy Island fans will get two new episodes this coming week.
