Just one day after she was eliminated on Dancing With The Stars, Mira Sorvino was offered redemption by showing off her smarts.

It certainly pays off to be a multi-faceted entertainer sometimes. For Mira Sorvino, her sharp mind helped her when her legs just couldn’t deliver. The Oscar-winner hadn’t quite been the strongest dancer this season on Dancing With The Stars. But after putting in the work, she was finally starting to come into her own.

On the October 25 episode of Dancing With The Stars, contestants were asked to compete in the “Most Memorable Year Night” theme. Sorvino decided to follow her heart and revisit a year that was near and dear to her. Her year of choice was 2004, the year her daughter Mattea was born. Sorvino also decided to include Mattea in her dance number along with dance partner Gleb Savchenko. The trip performed a snappy tribute to Sorvino’s most iconic film, Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion.

Mira Sorvino’s Most Memorable Year

Equipped with the Cyndi Lauper song “Time After Time,” Sorvino and her two dance partners brought an impressive amount of adorableness to their routine. After all was said and done, the judges were ultimately impressed with the choreography. Sorvino was awarded with a 22 out of 30, her highest score of the season.

Unfortunately for Sorvino, the impressive score was not enough to sway the audience at home. When it was time to send someone home, it was Sorvino who needed to pack her bags.

Despite the elimination, many fans were left shocked by the vote. “As a big fan of Romy and Michele, this dance was a brilliant throwback and I had a huge smile on my face the whole time. And sharing it with her daughter was simply beautiful. It’s a crime that she was eliminated,” wrote one YouTube comment.

“Wow, to say I’m shocked is an understatement. Completely robbed and should not have gone home this episode. Job well done Mira,” proclaimed another comment.

“I got the distinct feeling that, other than Carrie Anne, neither of the other judges recognized the dance from “Romy & Michele.” She should not have been the one to go home. This happens so often on DWTS. On the night of a person’s best performance, they go home,” wrote a third user.

Mira Sorvino’s DWTS Redemption

Even though her elimination from Dancing With The Stars came as a shock to many, Sorvino’s week wasn’t over yet. Just a day later, the actress appeared on Celebrity Jeopardy! Playing on behalf of the UN Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Trafficking in Persons, Sorvino came well prepared for her game. Matched up against actor Adam Rodriguez and NFL Network personality Peter Schrager, Sorvino found herself locked up in a tough battle.

By the time Final Jeopardy rolled around, Sorvino found herself with a slim $400 lead over Schrager. As the category “Tween Lit” popped up on the screen, she knew exactly what she needed to do.

With a correct answer and a hefty wager, Sorvino found herself as the show’s winner. Securing some well-deserved redemption,  Sorvino earned $24,200 for her charity. Not a bad way to wrap up her week.
