Amber Marshall and Ben Mehl are starring in Hallmark’s new holiday movie My Christmas Guide. What is this movie about? According to the synopsis, Trevor is a college literature professor. Just recently, he suddenly lost his sight.
Single dad to one daughter, Annie, Trevor is struggling with how he is going to continue. How was he going to live his life without his eyesight? To add to his challenges, the college is going through construction.
That means his daily walk to class could be dangerous if he cannot see the changes made. This situation is so serious that he is told by the department head that he should take time off, and return when the construction is complete.
Annie has an idea. She thinks that getting a guide dog is a solution. Therefore, they head over to Best Friend Dog Guides. They train dogs for the visually impaired. Here is where they meet trainer Peyton and guide dog Max.
Soon, Payton works with Trevor and Max as they learn to trust. Most of all, Trevor begins to regain his confidence.

The premiere of HMM’s My Christmas Guide is on Thursday, November 2, at 8 p.m., Eastern, on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. In addition, Peacock will have My Christmas Guide available up to 72 hours after the premiere.
Hallmark Actor Ben Mehl Legally Blind
Ben Mehl, star of Hallmark’s My Christmas Guide is legally blind. Two years ago, the Canadian actor spoke to Authority magazine about what happened. He explained that his vision loss in his senior year of college was due to a “rare genetic form of macular degeneration called Stargardt’s disease.”
Mehl explained that this was incurable. “I was told that it was progressive and that there was no treatment or cure.
My vision deteriorated to the point where I could no longer read normal sized text or recognize faces. I didn’t know whether pursuing a career in acting was possible anymore. How would I read my scripts? How would I see the expression on my scene partner’s face? After taking time to mourn the loss of my central vision and accept my new life, I decided I was not going to let this disease define me, and I would learn what it meant to be an actor with this disability and continue to pursue my dream.
