‘DWTS’ Brooke Burke Talks Desired Love Affair With Derek Hough
Dancing With The Stars alum Brooke Burke is revisiting some bold statements she recently made about judge Derek Hough.
The pair competed together in DWTS Season 7 all the way back in 2008. Although they didn’t reportedly didn’t see eye to eye at first, they worked together and took home the Mirrorball Trophy. And it seems like they actually became quite close in the process.
Recently, Brooke Burke shared on a podcast that she developed feelings for Derek while competing. More surprisingly to listeners, she spoke about wanting to have an affair with the dancer.

Brooke Burke seems to backtrack on her previous statements
Recently, Brooke Burke joined former DWTS pro Cheryl Burke on her podcast to talk about her experience on the show.
“I would have had an affair with him,” the model confirmed on the show. “But listen, let me tell you why: You are intertwined with someone’s body when you’re not a dancer. There is no way that I have ever been so connected — besides with a lover or a husband — than I was with Derek. And it’s every single day. So for three months, you are in someone’s arms. Why do you think people fall in love?”
But now, Brooke would like to clear up her comments.
PEOPLE obtained access to Brooke’s upcoming interview on Tamron Hall. In the clip, she seems to walk back her previous interview and clarify what she actually meant about having feelings for Derek Hough.
“When you’re on a show like that, you’re dancing, you’re breathing, you’re in each other’s arms. You’re learning the dance, the rhythm, the struggle, the challenge, the triumph, the fear that you share when you step out onto that floor. It’s an extremely intimate experience. Chemistry for sure,” the 52-year-old says. She went on to say that she honestly thought about Derek Hough as a younger brother instead of a lover.
“…Saying I would have had an affair… I don’t know, maybe I was just chatting,” Brooke adds. “We didn’t — let me just set the record straight — and I was in a faithful marriage. But it’s like that dance where you’re just, you’re so close and you’re so connected and that intimacy, you can’t fake that.”
The Season 7 champion says it’s “just sensual”
Throughout 32 seasons, DWTS fans have seen celebrity contestants grow quite close to their dance partners. Brooke Burke insists that she and Derek were close in the ballroom, but it was just the sensual nature of dance at work. In the interview, she even alluded that she and Derek went through more than most married couples do.
“You’re competing, you’re learning, you’re failing at times,” Brooke continued. “… So it’s all of these human emotions. To me, it was extremely sensual. Sensual, not sexual.”
