Staying at any job for over 40 years takes dedication and a passion for what you do. For White, her longevity on Wheel Of Fortune has also included an extended stay in the spotlight. To her credit, White has found a way to keep that spotlight focused solely on her and away from her romantic life. In an interview with People, White offered a rare glimpse into her relationship with John Donaldson.

Are Wedding Bells In Store For Vanna White?

In 2012, White was introduced to Donaldson through some mutual friends. They have been together ever since. White claims that even though she has been with Donaldson for so long, there hasn’t been any rush to get married. “I mean, we’ve been together 12 years, and I feel like we are married,” she told People. “Do we have to get married? No, because we feel comfortable in our relationship. You know what I mean? I know that he’s the one. He knows I’m the one.”

With an emphasis on just being together, White says marriage hasn’t even been up for discussion. “We don’t really talk about it, but you never know. I mean, I guess we could, but in my eyes and his eyes, we are married.”

White says that one secret to her long-lasting relationship has been their ability to be themselves around each other. “[Donaldson] is the male version of me. We really are very similar. We get along so well. He’s easy. He’s easy, and he lets me be me, and I let him be him.”

The Emotional Rollercoaster Of Vanna White’s Previous Relationships

There have often been questions about Pat Sajak and White’s relationship. Wheel Of Fortune fans have wondered for years if there was ever anything romantic going on between the two. It would be hard for anyone to dispute the chemistry between Sajak and White. The duo maintains an electric back-and-forth with each other that has helped fuel their decades-long success. But to them, their relationship has always been platonic.

During White’s early Wheel Of Fortune days, she endured a personal tragedy that became a national story. In May of 1986, White’s fiance John Gibson was killed in a plane crash. In a 2019 interview with People, White opened up about how much Gibson’s death affected her. “The second I heard about it, I fell to my knees. It was just devastating,” she said.

In a heartwarming twist, an outpouring of support from Wheel Of Fortune fans helped guide her through her darkest days. “I heard from so many people who had shared the same experience of losing someone instantly in an accident, and that really helped me,” she said. “I didn’t feel like I was alone. Because when something like that happens, you immediately think you’re the only one.”

In 1990, White found love again when she married Hollywood producer George Santo Pietro. The couple had two children during their 12 years of marriage. Nicholas “Nikko” Santo Pietro was born in 1994. Three years later, the couple welcomed Giovanna “Gigi” Santo Pietro into their family.
