That wasn’t anything new in Bachelor Nation, as Season 13 saw Jason Mesnick propose to Melissa Rycroft only to dump her for Molly Malaney.

However, for the first time in franchise history, cameras were there for the excruciating breakup between Luyendyk Jr. and Kufrin. Viewers watched Becca Kufrin’s heart shatter in real-time.

Arie Luyendyk Jr. has a complicated relationship with the Bachelor franchise. According to the Time magazine article, he refuted ABC’s claim that the breakup footage was unedited, implying that it was edited to show him in a negative light.

He also criticized the show’s outcomes, claiming the producers wanted drama, not successful relationships.  Despite his misgivings about reality TV, Arie Luyendyk Jr. competed on Season 1 of Traitors. Another former Bachelor will compete on Season 2 of the Peacock reality show.

Arie Luyendyk Jr. recently shared on his Instagram how Bachelor fame can negatively affect his life. The real estate broker revealed that he lost a listing after the seller discovered his reality TV past.

In a now-deleted post to his IG Stories, he a text thread where the seller asks if he’s the same person who appeared on The Bachelor. When he confirmed it was him, they wrote they were “sorry to inform” him that they didn’t want a “celebrity” to help sell their home.

A Bachelor Nation fan shared a screenshot of Luyendyk’s post. Several Redditors trolled him for considering himself a celebrity. “That’s why he posted this, he wants to show everyone his proof of “celebrity” lol,” one person wrote.

Another said, “Arie kind of proved her point by publishing their private interactions to his millions followers on his social media accounts.”

One comment pondered the question, “It “cost” him one client, but how many clients did he gain from his reality TV celeb status?”
