Travis Barker Facing His Demons

One area of challenge is facing his fear and mental challenges. While Travis Barker prepares to rejoin his bandmates for the remainder of the Europe leg of their tour, he opened up about his reoccurring fear of flying on X. He shared, “I still hate flying. I love touring and playing music but I, unfortunately, associate traveling and flying with death.”  Continuing, “I am strong and nothing can keep me from living life though💪.”

Unfortunately, in 2008, Barker was in a plane crash. After a show in South Carolina, Travis Barker and DJ AM (Adam Michael Goldstein) boarded a plane that crashed shortly after takeoff. Sadly, Barker suffered third-degree burns on 65 percent of his body. Furthermore, he then underwent several skin grafts and surgeries after the incident. Tragically, the crash killed Barker’s assistant Chris Baker, pilot Sarah Lemmon, co-pilot James Bland, and, security guard Charles “Che” Still. Subsequently, Goldstein died a year later from a prescription drug overdose. Remarkably, in July, the drummer completed his 30th flight since the crash.

He is confronting his fears and moving forward, but he also has extra challenges with his physical health.

Travis Barker’s Health Issues

Scary news hit the expectant mother and father when Travis Barker found out he had COVID-19. Even though Travis Barker shared that he had tested positive for COVID-19 on Sept. 22, he later released updates regarding his health and well-being on X. Unfortunately, bad news sometimes comes in threes. Accordingly, Barker posted that in addition to having COVID last week, he also had an episode of trigeminal neuralgia and a root canal. Furthermore, in response to what he has faced, he said, “Which means I can pretty much handle anything god throws at me.” Mayo Clinic describes trigeminal neuralgia as “a condition that causes painful sensations similar to an electric shock on one side of the face.”

Travis Barker is showing so much strength through all of the health problems he is facing.
