It’s been nearly six months since Dancing With The Stars icon Len Goodman passed away. Now, his cause of death is officially public knowledge.

At the time of his death, his agent shared that bone cancer was to blame. Although cancer definitely played a role, it’s not the entire story. So what exactly happened to Len Goodman? Read on to see what TV Shows Ace uncovered.

Len Goodman’s death certificate clears the air

Many DWTS fans thought Len Goodman’s health might be failing when he officially stepped down from the show last year. Their suspicions proved to be true when he sadly passed away on April 22, 2023. He was just a few days away from his 79th birthday.

This week, his official cause of death was shared.

According to The Daily Express, Len Goodman’s death certificate reveals he suffered from prostate cancer which spread to his bones. The publication cites that he had a cancerous tumor removed from his prostate back in June 2009. He opted to keep the procedure a secret from his colleagues.

After Len passed away in April, his agent said he passed away from bone cancer. While this wasn’t entirely untrue, it appears that it stemmed from his previous battle with prostate cancer.

After leaving Dancing With The Stars, the judge entered hospice care in England. He reportedly passed away surrounded by his loved ones.

During the DWTS Season 32 premiere, the cast paid tribute to their late friend and colleague. The Mirrorball Trophy has been renamed the “Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy” in his honor.

Thirteen couples are currently left in the competition, all eager to win the Len Goodman trophy.

Dancing With The Stars cast members fondly remember their late friend

Although DWTS will never be the same without Len Goodman, the show continues. Derek Hough is now head judge, with fellow judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli. Each one of them had a deep friendship with Len and felt heartbroken over his passing.

In a recent interview, Bruno Tonioli was driven to tears while recalling his last exchange with Len.

“I knew [he was sick.] He told me,” the 67-year-old shared on Live with Kelly & Mark. “I knew well before and he wanted to be completely private and I totally [understand].”

Bruno went on to discuss the last email he received from Len.

“Then it ended with a ‘Thank you.’ I actually, I can’t [speak about it] because Len would hate doing this,” he continued. “He’d be like, ‘Oh, get up, Bruno. You’re a lucky man and we had a great life. We had a great time, enjoy! Make every day count and have a good time.’ And that’s his spirit, so we have to celebrate him because the life he would want is [that].”
