‘Golden Bachelor’ Gerry Turner Gets Candid About Hearing Aids
The Golden Bachelor aired its first episode last week, breaking down boundaries set by other shows in the Bachelor Nation franchise. The Golden Bachelor is 72-year-old Gerry Turner. Luckily for fans, Gerry has made himself pretty vulnerable this season. This includes talking about his hearing aids. The Golden Bachelor gets candid
Gerry Turner is the Golden Bachelor this season, and he certainly isn’t letting his age drag him down. Gerry is the first Bachelor to be 72 years old. During night one of the show last week, fans noticed something. Gerry has hearing aids in his ears. However, he isn’t ashamed of them. In fact, he wants to make sure everyone knows this isn’t something to be embarrassed about. It’s just part of aging.
“I don’t want anyone to feel like they have a disadvantage or that they have something to be a little embarrassed about,” he says according to Insider.
“If they start aging and they show the symptoms of being 70 years old, I don’t really care if people notice that I have hearing aids,” he continues.
It seems that Gerry was the perfect choice for this new and exciting role in the franchise. Gerry has been emotional on and off camera, showing a willingness to be open in this position. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out for Gerry.
What happened night 1?
Of course, night one on any Bachelor Nation show features the lead meeting all of their potential prospects for the season. The Golden Bachelor was no different as Gerry met the women he would be dating all season long. While he ended up sending six women home, he also made some really great connections on night one.
While several connections seem to have the potential to grow, Gerry really connected with one of the women a little extra. He even gave her his first impression rose. That woman is none other than Faith Martin. Faith is a woman who described herself as loving to have fun. She was married previously, however like Gerry, her ex-husband died. However, unlike Gerry and his wife, the couple had split long before his death.
It will be interesting to see how Faith and Gerry’s relationship develops. And, if that First Impression Rose is an omen of what is to come.
