'My 600-lb Life': How's S4 Lupe Samano After Tragic Experience

My 600-lb Life alum Lupe Samano had an inspiring weight loss journey. She appeared in Season 4 at 642 pounds. However, shedding pounds wasn’t her only problem. The California native also struggled with her marriage. Her husband, Gilbert Donovan, began to lose faith due to her weight gain. Because of this, she finally sought Dr. Now’s help and was able to turn her life around. But things still didn’t go her way after the show. Keep reading to see what happened to the former TLC star.

My 600-lb Life: Lupe Samano’s Incredible Weight Loss

Lupe’s first hospital meeting with Dr. Now was terrifying. She was immediately admitted after the bariatric surgeon found out that the My 600-lb Life alum’s heart was on its way to failure. Fortunately, she quickly recovered and proceeded with her weight loss plans. She shed enough pounds to qualify for bariatric surgery and dropped 300 pounds by the end of her episode. Her return episode in 2018 also featured her excess skin removal and hip replacement surgeries. She also dropped to nearly 200 lbs.

The former reality TV personality also vowed to keep a healthy lifestyle after the show. She has kept the fans in touch on social media but hasn’t shared her current weight. However, most of her recent photos show that she has maintained a good weight since 2016. In December 2019, Lupe uploaded a stunning photo of herself. She regained her confidence and fell in love with selfies as well as put on clothes she wasn’t able to wear before.

Lupe’s Unfortunate Marriage

Despite successfully losing weight, Lupe Samano still had troubles with her husband. They ended up in a divorce after the My 600-lb Life star claimed that Gilbert became physically abusive. She even had her sutures raptured and infected after being forced to be intimate by her ex-husband. Gilbert also surprised many after ending up with another patient of Dr. Now from Season 6, Karina Garcia. Her FB page also indicates that they’re still going strong today.

My 600-lb Life: Lupe Samano’s Tragic Love Story

Lupe later recovered from her divorce and found a new boyfriend. She fell in love with her old friend, Andrew Renteria. They wanted to get married as quickly as they could and have children together. Andrew was also supportive of her weight loss journey. Sadly, he passed away in 2019 due to kidney problems.

Since then, Lupe Samano has kept a private life. Many have shown support and prayed for her to stay strong. Her FB bio states she’s soon to be a Rentaria, which may imply that she’s still grieving and misses her significant other.
