‘Below Deck Mediterranean’ Captain Sandy Yawn Is Under Fire

Below Deck Mediterranean Captain Sandy Yawn is under fire. Fans furiously attacked Captain Sandy over the hiring of Kyle Viljoen and Natalya Scudder for Season 8 of Below Deck Med. In addition, fans were angry that Captain Sandy Yawn hired Ruan Irving despite him having forged documentation. Sandy Yawn claims she gives all crew members three chances before firing them. Although fans do not believe she has done this with previous crew members.

Making Bad Hires On Below Deck Med

The root of the scrutiny that Captain Sandy Yawn is facing is due to the hiring of the wrong crew members. Fans are angry with Sandy over the hiring of Kyle Viljoen, Natalya Scudder, and Ruan Irving. Kyle Viljoen and Natalya Scudder are not fan favorites with claims that they are lazy and shirk their responsibilities. However, It was revealed in Episode 1 of Season 8 that Ruan Irving didn’t even have proper documentation to be working on the motor yacht Mustique. Ruan Irving was let go due to his documentation being falsified.

Cast Members Return

Currently, crew members Kyle Viljoen and Tumi Mhlongo are held up in customs with delayed visas. Captain Sandy Yawn revealed that Tumi Mhlongo would be returning as chief stew. And Kyle Viljoen would be returning as second stew after his visa was approved. Fans scrutinized this decision as Kyle has a history of being labeled as lazy after an ankle injury in Season 7. This meant he missed the last charter of the season. However Captain Sandy states she gives three chances to crew members before firing them. It seems that Kyle hasn’t run out of chances just yet. Fans are hoping that he will end up getting fired, though.

In past seasons, Captain Sandy Yawn fired Hannah Ferrier and Hindrigo ‘KiKo’ Lorran and didn’t give them three chances. That is confusing viewers on why she is doing it this time around. Maybe she has had a change of heart and thinks they deserve it now.
