Can DWTS Season 32 still air on Tuesday night?

This has definitely been one of the most chaotic pre-seasons for Dancing With The Stars to date. The lengthy WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes made it incredibly difficult for the production staff to find participants for the competition. And even after the cast announcement came out, the chaos wasn’t over.

Comedian Matt Walsh walked out of the rehearsal room to support the WGA. Soon after, picketers gathered outside the studio to protest. Many didn’t believe the show should continue at all until the strikes could be resolved.

Rumors circulated that more DWTS Season 32 contestants would follow Matt Walsh out the door. So can Season 32 go on as scheduled or will ABC postpone?

ABC makes an official decision about DWTS Season 32

When ABC initially announced that DWTS Season 32 would air on Tuesday, September 26, many viewers remained skeptical. With the ongoing strikes, there just didn’t seem to be a simple way to put on a successful show.

Of course, the situation just got worse when contestant Matt Walsh announced his departure. Several speculated that SAG-AFTRA members Alyson Hannigan and Mira Sorvino could walk out next.

But now, it seems like there may be some relief in sight for everyone working on the show.

Late Sunday night, the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers appeared to have came to an agreement, effectively ending the strike. However, the final deal still needs to be hammered out and voted on. If that doesn’t happen, the WGA strike could resume.

In spite of everything, it does not appear that ABC plans to postpone DWTS Season 32 at this time. The “tentative deal” seems to be good enough to presume production.

“ABC can confirm that Dancing With The Stars will premiere as originally scheduled on Tuesday, Sept 26 at 8pm EDT,” the network officially announced today. “The season will also simulcast LIVE on Disney+ and be available next day on Hulu.”

According to Good Morning America, Matt Walsh will even compete, as per his rep.

Without a doubt, it’s been an incredibly tense time for the DWTS Season 32 cast. But now that the WGA strike appears to be over, ABC feels comfortable moving forward with the show as previously planned.

ABC moves the dance competition to Tuesday nights

Last year, Dancing With The Stars exclusively aired on Disney+, angering many long-time viewers. This year, the competition is back on ABC, in addition to Disney+. But after years of being a Monday night staple, DWTS Season 32 will air on Tuesday nights instead.
