Below Deck Med: Peter Hunziker Fired For No Reason?

Many people felt that Bravo dumped the deckhand for no reason. That happened in 2020, and if you cast your mind back, plenty of firings took place. Vanderpump Rules underwent an upheaval and Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Max Boyens, and Brett Caprioni were shown the door. That all happened after Faith Stowers accused them of racist behavior. Clean-sweeping, the various cast members of the Bravo franchise were treading on thin ice for a while.

Below Deck Med Deckhand, Peter Hunziker apparently didn’t get the memo about the outcry that followed the death of George Floyd. Season 5 got to the midway point, and some people didn’t mind that Bravo started erasing him from the second part of the season. For a start, they didn’t like the way he treated women. They felt that he acted in an inappropriate manner toward Christina “Bugsy” Drake. So, they felt happy to hear the news that he was fired.

Why Was Below Deck Med Peter Hunziker Fired?

On June 17, 2020, Bravo fans heard that Captain Sandy Yawn’s deckhand was gone from the show. Actually, it wasn’t related to his behavior with women on the vessel. In fact, the news arrived that he posted racially insensitive content on social media. Dexerto reminded viewers that he “was let go before the sixth season even began filming.” The reason for it involved a picture that he posted on social media. Unfortunately, it depicted, “a Black woman in chains.”

The Below Deck Med crew member made a mistake at a very sensitive time, and he certainly wasn’t the first person on Reality TV to do so. Actually, he seemed oblivious that his attitude toward women was offensive, Recall, he couldn’t understand why it was a bad thing to call bosun Malia White “sweetheart.” When Captain Sandy Yawn called him out about it, he used the excuse that he came “from a small town.” Later after staying quiet for a bit, he made a statement.

The Statement Seemed Inadequate For Viewers

Below Deck Med Captian Sandy Yawn would have probably ended up firing Peter even if he hadn’t posted that offensive content on social media. After all, there were many complaints about his misogynistic comments. Initially, he blamed the production team for “bad edits.” And, the most he would concede, was that he needed to try and “better himself.”
