The Chrisley attorney shares that prison has taken a mental toll on Todd Chrisley. He was sentenced to twelve years behind bars and reported back in January 2023. Yet, he is away from his wife, Julie Chrisley who is serving elsewhere, and his children. So, what exactly is going on? Read on for more details.

Chrisley Attorney Says Prison Has Taken Mental Toll On Todd

Being behind bars is not easy for Todd Chrisley by any means. He and his wife, Julie are both serving their time but she is in Kentucky while he is in Florida. Additionally, Todd was sentenced to twelve years while Julie was sentenced to seven years so they are there for a long time. Despite this, they are appealing their sentences and have hopes that things will turn around. In the meantime, it has been a rough go for Todd. According to the Los Angeles Times, Todd’s mental health is severely deteriorating under the circumstances he must live.

His lawyer, Jay Surgent had this to say: “He’s still very energetic, but I think he’s suffering from anxiety in not knowing what’s happening on the outside with his case.” He went on to note: “I think [Todd is] frustrated with the legal system in general, as far as how long it takes to get anything processed — from getting mail to being able to make phone calls to having his case processed on appeal. Everything is delay, delay, delay and it’s very frustrating to him.” As for the mental strain, Todd Chrisley has had photos snapped of him while he is sleeping.

Additionally, Todd Chrisley cannot leave the inside of the prison walls to work out. If he even dares to go outside, there are paparazzi waiting to get a photo of him. This makes sense because he obviously does not look like the same person who went in eight months back. His life is all about eating, maybe TV viewing, and chatting with his fellow inmates. Even his children have vouched for the awful conditions he and his wife have been forced to live in.

This Isn’t Right

According to Julie and Todd Chrisley’s daughter, Savannah Chrisley, things have been awful in their respective prisons. Along with her brother, Chase Chrisley, they revealed that their parents have no air conditioning. This was in the summer, in the south nonetheless, when the temperatures were beyond torturous. There have also been mail problems as well as privacy issues so it has been hard all around. As for how or if Todd’s anxiety is being treated, that has not been discussed.

Do you understand why Todd’s mental health is in a spiral at the moment? Let us know in the comments below.

    1. I agree. I liked the show, but if you are a criminal, you go to jail…period…end of story. They should have thought about how bad jail would be before breaking the law. All these people feeling bad for them probably don’t feel bad for others in the same prison because, well…we know why 💁🏾‍♀️

    2. my heart goes out to them both, I don’t believe for a moment they’ve actually done something so awful that justifies such sentences. They haven’t hurt anyone, no one died, it seems the sentencing system has got it wrong, lesser sentences are given to child abusers, vile people who attack old and vulnerable people yet these two genuinely good people have had some kind of example made of them, it’s not a fair system. let them go home to their family, especially as nanny Faye isn’t getting any younger, if she passes away while he’s inside it’ll kill him.

  1. Admit to the Lord that “I was wrong Father. Please forgive me.”
Then He can work in your life and the lives of your family.
    It works.

  2. Todd has always been in control of every aspect of his kids lives and his mama. I think he is having anxiety because that control has been taken away. He’s also had his lavish lifestyle striped away. its driving him crazy what’s going on on the outside.

  3. Something should be done about privacy issues both inside and outside the prison. Non famous prisoners don’t have to deal with this.

  4. I think he and Julie should be close so the children can visit easier. I agree some of the comments above, child molesters get less time. Look at the laws being broken in our White house, they will not get any time. So much wrong in our country, so sad.

    1. The same applies outside the White House look at the Law the former POTUS broke and continue to break. Since you sheepishly tried to bash Biden whom hasn’t been indicted of evidence found of any wrong doing. The Law is the law and no one should be above the law. You do the crime you do the time period.

  5. I’m sorry what? Everyone in prison has mental issues when they leave. You committed a crime my dude. You don’t get to live lavishly. Sorry they forgot to bring you an air conditioner 😂 how dare them.

    1. You think this is funny? Even if they committed the crimes, the living conditions for all of the inmates is terrible. Just because all incarcerated people committed crimes doesn’t mean they should be treated poorly.

  6. the sentence was quite ridiculous but yes they need to be incarcerated but for that long? there’s murderers, drug dealers, child molesters, rapists doing far less time.

  7. I wish judges would sentence child abusers to this kind of time. It’s ridiculous!
I hv to say though, that Todd and Julie are a joke. Mental health concerns happen for anyone that goes to prison. Common sense. Air conditioning??!! Seriously??!! Did u think u could arrange for private rooms too? What a joke!! No Chrisleys u don’t get your lavish lifestyle in PRISON!! U r now REGULAR PEOPLE. U suffer like everyone else.
    Next time PAY YOUR BILLS!!

  8. This is crazy! If you read the whole ordeal you would know they didn’t do the crime. The state of Georgia should have to pay them a hefty amount for what they have done to this family. The whole case was bulls**t and should have been thrown out. However, if you only read the tabloids you would think that they did something wrong. Do your homework before commenting!! I pray they get out soon.

    1. Michele, I agree with you. they need to be released. There are people who’ve done much worse, that are already out. My heart breaks for them, and their families. Elderly parents, and, small children.

  10. Perhaps they should’ve thought of all this before they stole. Why should any prisoners get air conditioners? Nobody is in prison to be comfortable.
