The Season 14 Premiere of The Talk has been axed from CBS’s line-up tomorrow. Naturally, fans of the show are wondering why they won’t get to enjoy new episodes.

CBS’s The Talk is among the list of daytime talk shows that were scheduled to kick off their new season tomorrow (Monday, September 18th). After the heated backlash Drew Barrymore received for initially deciding to bring her talk show back for a new season, the TV personality changed her mind. This change of heart came only after her empty apology was not well-received by the Internet.

Watching how things played out for Drew Barrymore, it appears as if The Talk has decided to delay Season 14 to avoid catching any of the heat from the wrath that rained down on Drew.

The Talk Season 14 Premiere Removed From Schedule, Why?

Speaking to Deadline, CBS issued an official statement explaining the decision to pull the plug on Season 14 of The Talk.

The Talk is pausing its season premiere scheduled for September 18, CBS said in a statement. We will continue to evaluate plans for a new launch date.

When the show had originally planned to return, one thing was made clear. The Talk was largely an unscripted daytime talk show. In fact, there was just one writing position on the entire staff. A staff which consisted of roughly 150 employees. The network promised not to fill this writing position until the strike concluded. Hosts of The Talk would adlib and function unscripted until the strike came to an end.

This, however, wasn’t an ideal solution for those on strike. Most argued the show moving forward without the writer’s position being filled was disrespectful to writers. And, in a way, it devalued the writer’s position by suggesting the show could function just fine without a writer.

The View Live With Kelly And Mark Push Forward

This news comes after Drew Barrymore announced she had made a mistake. She would not bring her talk show back until the strike came to an end.

“I have listened to everyone. And I am making the decision to pause the show’s premiere until the strike is over,” Drew Barrymore said in her official statement this morning.

“I have no words to express my deepest apologies to anyone I have hurt and, of course, to our incredible team who works on the show and has made it what it is today. We really tried to find our way forward. And I truly hope for a resolution for the entire industry very soon.”

Naturally, this leaves fans of talk shows with questions. Why is The View and Live With Kelly and Mark currently airing new episodes? Deadline confirms both talk shows do receive regular pushback from WGA picketers regarding the disrespectful decision to remain on air.
