Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar Reportedly Lose Guardianship Of Tyler
Former TLC stars Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have reportedly lost guardianship of Tyler Hutchins. The Duggar family gained guardianship of him back in 2016. But now, he’s no longer in their care. Keep reading for the details that have surfaced so far.
Who Is Tyler Hutchins?
Tyler is Michelle’s niece Rachel Hutchins’ son. Because Rachel was unable to care for Tyler, his great-aunt Michelle and great-uncle Jim Bob became his guardians in 2016. He’s now 15 years old and has grown up with the Duggar kids. Some fans have even referred to him as Jim Bob and Michelle’s 20th child.
Over the years, Tyler has appeared in family photos, videos, and more. He was also on Counting On. Now, that’s all changing as he’s no longer living under Jim Bob and Michelle’s roof.

Why Are Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar No Longer Tyler’s Guardians?
Unfortunately, the specific reason for Jim Bob and Michelle losing guardianship is unknown. But on social media, theories are circulating. One fan said, “They raise a kid for 7 years just to willfully give him up? There has to be more to this story.”
In a comment, Duggar Family News: Life Is Not All Pickles & Hairspray speculated, “Shiny Happy People was released on June 2. Tyler left June 5. Coincidence?”
Over the summer, Amazon Prime Video released a docuseries about the Duggar family and their religious beliefs, the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP). The docuseries exposed some of the dangers of the religion, which could have prompted Tyler’s grandparents to step in, some fans think.
Others wonder if someone decided Tyler was old enough to decide whether to stay with Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar or live with his grandparents. Maybe because he’s 15, the family let him choose. With the Duggar family keeping quiet online, fans may not learn the full story.
