Who will be the Season 40 host of Jeopardy! when it returns on Monday, September 11th? The writer and SAG-AFTRA strikes are still currently going on and with that being said, will Mayim Bialik come back? Or, will it all fall on the shoulders of Ken Jennings? Read on for more details about who will be hosting the season premiere.

Jeopardy! Who Is The Official Season 40 Host?

As Season 39 of Jeopardy! came to a close, Mayim Bialik left the show. The writer strike was going on and soon after, the SAG-AFTRA strike began as well. She decided that she needed to stand in solidarity with her people having been in the industry since she was a child. That meant co-host, Ken Jennings would be returning which made fans extremely happy as they were struggling with some of Bialik’s ways. They felt that she was not invested in the contestant’s life stories or eccentricities plus her constant pausing was a hindrance, as well.

Now that Season 40 of Jeopardy! is returning, fans cannot help but wonder who will be the host as Bialik and Ken Jennings switch off. Finally, the question has been answered. According to TV Line, the premiere host will be Ken Jennings. Fans were not thrilled at the idea of even Jennings coming back. This was mainly because he would be crossing picket lines. However, he took the time to remind disgruntled fans that there was a strike when Alex Trebek was alive and the show still went on.

As for how the show will go on without writers, the answer is quite simple. They still have questions written from before the strike. Additionally, the show is using this opportunity to bring back former contestants for another chance while using the questions they got wrong. “So we’re gonna open the season with a second chance tournament for players from Season 37 who lost their initial game, and winners from that will advance to a Season 37 and Season 38 Champions Wild Card,” showrunner Michael Davies explained.

Fans Will Be Happy

Though Jeopardy! fans may not love recycled questions, they will undoubtedly be happy with the hosting choice. At the same time, viewers are also interested in seeing how this will all play out, again without any writers. They took to X (Twitter) to share their thoughts.

Yes, this premiere will be different but the show is doing its best to bring content to their loyal viewers. Hopefully, it goes off without a hitch.
