‘Bringing Up Bates’ Kelly Bates Goes MIA, Why?
Bringing Up Bates star Kelly Bates was recently MIA, but why? The mother of 19 is typically present at family gatherings and enjoys spending time with her loved ones, of course. But unfortunately, this time around, she was missing. What happened? Keep reading for all of the details.
Bringing Up Bates: Gil Bates takes off with the kids.
On her Instagram page, Kelly Bates shared a new post about her husband, Gil, and their three youngest kids, Jeb, Judson, and Callie. She revealed that they had to split up and she was MIA from a recent family gathering, unfortunately. Gil and the kids visited Mama Jane and Papa Bill’s farm over Labor Day Weekend. The family was last there for the Fourth of July.
In her post, Kelly included several photos of the family soaking up quality time together.
On social media, Kelly is often sharing photos of herself spending time with her 19 kids and many grandkids. So, it was strange that she was not a part of a recent get-together. Fortunately, she offered an explanation about her being MIA.
Why was Kelly Bates MIA from a family gathering?
While sharing about this family gathering that she missed, the Bringing Up Bates mama admitted the real reason she was MIA. She said, “Gil and the 3 youngest got to travel to the farm (our favorite place with our favorite people)… though the rest of us missed out on the fun & fellowship, I’m grateful Callie captured some special memories via photos! (Makes me sad I didn’t get all of my school grading & planning and all of my house work done in time to join them, so now I’m dreaming of another chance to visit).”
As a homeschooling mom, she certainly has a lot on her plate, so Bringing Up Bates fans can understand her being MIA.

In a comment, one fan encouraged Kelly to go with her family next time. They wrote, “Never let chores stop you from family…. You never know how much time your older loved ones have left. Take the time to visit often!!”
Another chimed in, reminding her that the housework and grading can wait. Hopefully, Kelly will be able to make a trip to the farm very soon.
