‘The View’ Whoopi Goldberg, 67, Battling Illness, Misses Premiere
The View host Whoopi Goldberg, 67, is currently battling illness and missed the season premiere on Tuesday, September 5. Naturally, fans are concerned about her and hope she’s going to be okay. The View Season 27 Premieres
On Tuesday, September 5, the talk show returned for a new season. Ahead of the premiere, fans learned about the cast. Surprisingly, this time around, all six of Season 26’s hosts came back. The lineup includes Whoopi, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin.
Fans did have a brief scare about Whoopi potentially leaving the show. In one trailer, she didn’t make an appearance until the very end. Fortunately, she confirmed she’d be back to hang out with fans very soon.
When the show returned on Tuesday, viewers were greeted with a new and improved set.
Whoopi Goldberg Battling Illness
On the season premiere on Tuesday, Joy Behar filled in as moderator while Whoopi was out. She informed viewers that Whoopi “has Covid again.”
Joy explained, “As you can see, Whoopi is not here today. She has Covid.”
The live audience groaned in response, showing that they were feeling bad for Whoopi and that they missed her. Joy replied, “I know! It’s back. It’s back!”
Below, you can see that everyone except Whoopi was a part of the season premiere. Joy proudly sat in Whoopi’s usual spot.
Joy reassured viewers and said that Whoopi is almost over Covid and that she’s getting better. She plans to be back later this week, so she won’t miss too much work and fans can enjoy catching up with her in the new episodes.
Also during The View season premiere, Joy added, “Sorry she is not here for those of you who were looking forward to seeing her.”
Though Whoopi was absent to kick off the new season, viewers were still very happy to see the crew back together again. This is sure to be another exciting season, especially once the sixth host returns to her seat.
