After overcoming his food addiction, James was able to shed 352 pounds. This includes bariatric surgery, which he got approved for after losing weight from his strict diet plans. The My 600-lb Life alum also revealed in 2019 that he only weighed 239 pounds four years after his special episode on TLC. According to him, he would welcome the network to bring him back again to inspire others who went through the same weight-related struggles.

Jones has shared photos of himself online, looking unrecognizable. He also uses social media platforms to spread awareness about obesity and has even promoted a fundraiser to help such people go to school.

TLC previously revealed in a YouTube special episode that James and his girlfriend, Summer, got engaged. However, the network also added that they hit big roadblocks throughout their relationship. James also made headlines after his nasty accident in 2019. According to the My 600-lb Life alum, he crashed his pickup truck across a four-lane highway. It broke his vertebra and both collarbones. Fortunately, he was able to recover quickly after his spinal fusion surgery. But despite his horrible crash, James Jones got back into driving and didn’t let his injuries hinder his weight loss programs.
