‘AGT’ Fans Tell Howie Mandel To STFU Over Insults On Family
AGT fans showed their support for the Sharpe Family Singers after judge Howie Mandel roasted the family’s live performance on Tuesday.
It’s just the second week of live performances, and things are already getting heated on America’s Got Talent. The Shape Family Singers found out firsthand that by the live performances round, the judges expect nothing less than perfection. Unfortunately for them, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara felt that they were too far off of the mark.
Ahead of their performance on August 29, the Sharpe Family Singers were unsurprisingly excited about their chance at AGT immortality.

With their anticipation at maximum levels, the Sharpe Family Singers finally took to the stage on Tuesday with a surprising song choice.
The Sharpe Family’s Performance On ‘AGT’
The Sharp Family Singers selected the song “Carry On Wayward Son” by Kansas for their live performance. Dressed in a primarily monochromatic style, the family chose a no-frills approach to their act and instead relied on their strong vocals to carry them. However, midway through their performance, Mandel jumped at the opportunity to buzz them. When asked why he felt so strongly, Mandel did not mince words.
“…It felt a little bit corny. It felt outdated…you shouldn’t be singing rock and roll. Stay in your lane,” Mandel said of the Sharpe Family Singers. AGT fans in the audience quickly let Mandel know that they disagreed with his assessment. They booed him throughout most of his comments.
Vergara agreed with Mandel, albeit in a much more diplomatic way. “It felt like I was in a church service. But I love that you guys are a family! And that’s what makes me excited about you…but it’s not my favorite rendition of the song.”
‘AGT’ Fans Reaction To Howie Mandel
For most AGT fans, they know what they like and they’re passionate about acts that speak to them on a personal level. Not every act can advance all the way and win, but fans can get behind contestants who put their heart and soul into their performances. The Sharpe Family may not have been the most impressive act this week, but fans admired their charm and wholesomeness. Mandel was a little quick to dismiss the family, a move that angered fans. On social media, fans were not shy to point out the lack of respect and harshness of Mandel’s comments.
“#AGT The Sharpe Family Singers is awesome, what the Hell is wrong with Howie? They are all talented Singers, nothing wrong with a Family Oriented Act for Vegas!” snapped one X user.
“@howiemandel #AGT Howie you were very rude to the Sharpe Family. No need to be so mean!” quipped another user.
A third user agreed with Howie’s decision but condemned his comments. “@howiemandel @AGT You act so immature when you don’t approve of an act. I didn’t care for Sharpe Family, but at this point an “X” is irrelevant. America votes…” wrote the user.
What do you think? Was Mandel too harsh in his criticisms of the family’s performance? Was he too dismissive of the family’s style? Or do you think The Sharpe Family was maybe just a little too wholesome for Primetime TV? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

The T in AGT stands for talent. They may not like the song type, but this show is supposed to be about Talent! If The Sharpe Family Singers had done another Disney rendition (Which are phenomenal) Howie and Simon would have said that it was too safe and you should have stepped it up. Howie’s comments were rude and he talked over Heidi and Sophia. At least Simon wasn’t as rude, but he should have seen what talent it took to pull off a song like that.
Howie has made many rude comments this year. It might be time for him to go.
