Whitney Way Thore Schools Critics Of Babs’ Funeral
My Big Fat Fabulous fans felt sad when they heard that Bab’s died but they slammed Whitney Way Thore for televising the funeral, so she schooled them. Season 11 kicks off with a scene of the funeral and some TLC critics think she’s tacky for profiting off her loss.
Whitney Way Thore Takes Heat Over The Funeral For Babs
Make no mistake, Babs was very popular with fans of MBFFL. However, many of them directed a lot of anger at the family. Actually, some of them felt bad that TLC filmed her for Season 10 when she was so ill after her second stroke. In December last year, fans saw that the TLC star invited the public to attend the funeral of Babs. That seemed generous, if surprising, and some fans went along.
Later, Whitney Way Thore shared some photos from the actual send-off and hardly anyone seemed to mind. However, when it comes to actually filming the funeral and including it in the show, critics felt that TLC overstepped the line. In fact, some of them were so angry about it on social media that they slammed the family. Glenn, Babs’ husband felt that like “Queen Elizabeth,” people might want to see it because so many people loved her. The message back was that Babs was nice but she ain’t no royalty.
Whitney Way Thore Got Upset About Critics – Opens Up
The MBFFL star became so upset that she slammed reality TV fans for upsetting her poor old dad. In her rant on social media, she said, “However much you need the hate that you feel toward me to keep you busy, or entertain you, or distract you from your own shitty life, PLEASE remember, just for this one instance, that you’re talking about my dead mother and there is a family who reads this.” This week, she opened up again and had more to say to ET’s Deidre Behar.
Whitney Way Thore reminded fans in her interview that Glenn made the decision to throw the funeral open. Furthermore, he gave the go-ahead for it to be televised. So, it’s not her fault, Well, it never is, as My Big Fat Fabulous Life viewers know very well. She said, “I can let a lot of stuff roll off me because I’ve been dealing with this for a decade. When it starts to involve my family, it’s a lot harder. When it starts to involve my dead mother it’s the hardest.”
Not For Profit
Whitney Way Thore addressed the accusations that her family earns more money by including her mom’s funeral in the show. To that, she responded, “I make the same amount of money,” adding, “Nobody gives me extra money for, like, putting my trauma onscreen.” Whitney also told Deidre, “I wish they did. If they did, I’d have a lot more money.”
What she said might be a bit of damage control. Did you know that TLC fans are so furious that many of them threatened to “boycott” the show? What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments below.

I thought it was brave to share the most intimate time in a family’s life. Anyone who was a fan of the show came to know and love Babs and she continued to enjoy her life to the best of her ability – it was a way to honor her.
