This week, Jodie Sweetin fans were shocked to learn that her upcoming movie Craft Me A Romance is going to air on Great American Family. This is the ultra-conservative network that Candace Cameron Bure left Hallmark for.

Earlier this week, Great American Family announced their fall lineup. Included in this lineup is Craft Me A Romance starring Jodie Sweetin. Did the Full House star defect to GAF? According to People, she did not. She was shocked to discover that this independently made movie is airing on GAF.
Sometimes, we as actors don’t have control over which network buys the projects were are in, nor are we a part of the process in which they get sold.
So I was very surprised to learn by reading about it in the press yesterday that the independent film I worked on over a year ago was sold to Great American Family.
Therefore, Jodie did not sign a contract with GAF, nor did she leave Hallmark for GAF. Her movie is independent and GAF bought it. As she explained, she had no control over who bought this movie.

When Jodie Sweetin filmed Craft Me A Romance over a year ago, it was for an independent filmmaker. They, in turn, make it available for a network like Great American Family, Hallmark, UPtv, Lifetime, or others to buy. This makes this movie an acquisition. Acquisitions are important for networks as there can be filming delays or unforeseen circumstances that delay planned movies. Acquisitions fill in the gaps. They were especially important during Covid. Moreover, they are going to be increasingly important as the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes drag on. Many networks may use acquisitions, particularly during the Christmas season to keep their schedules full.

Now that Craft Me A Romance is airing on GAF, Jodie has found a way to support her LGBTQ+ family.
I am disappointed, but in keeping with my mission of supporting the LGBTQ+ family, any potential or future money made from this sale will be donated to LGBTQ+ organizations.
This move is very clever. Firstly, it reflects Sweetin’s values and support of the LGBTQ+ community. In addition, this movie may help ensure Jodie’s future movies never get purchased by this “traditional” network again.

Sweetin’s most recent Hallmark movie is The Jane Mysteries: Inheritance Lost, which premiered in May. She stars along with Stephen Huszar and Paris Jefferson. Moreover, she portrays a torch singer and sang all of her own songs.
