Jon Gosselin and Colleen Conrad split after seven years together. However, it doesn’t seem like they bear any ill will toward each other. In fact, Colleen has always stood by the children in Jon’s care, particularly Collin.
The family is back in the spotlight after Collin publicly accused Kate Gosselin of child abuse. Kate retaliated and proclaimed her innocence.
Now, Colleen Conrad has broken her silence on the situation. She’s letting everyone know her side of the story and it’s definitely not painting Kate Gosselin in a positive light.
Jon Gosselin’s ex Colleen Conrad rushes to defend Collin
Former TLC star Jon Gosselin has a new girlfriend. But Colleen Conrad will always have his son’s back.
“I recently learned of derogatory statements made about Collin Gosselin and felt compelled to defend him. These statements were made by family members who have been estranged from his life since he was 12,” Colleen began her lengthy Instagram post. “Collin is not only someone I love dearly but has also been a significant figure in my family’s life. He is currently at boot camp for the Marines and he’s unable to defend himself.”
In the post, Colleen revealed that Collin kept living with her even after she and Jon split. Collin stayed in her home until he turned 18 and Colleen loved having him there. She claimed that he never behaved violently and was always respectful in her home.
“Despite being institutionalized for 3 years alone with only 3 visits from his mother and not receiving proper education, he achieved a 4.0 GPA and won the highest GPA award at his ROTC banquet. I’m so incredibly proud of his accomplishments,” she continued.
She added that he took careful measures so that he could join the Marines, including seeking “private psychiatric evaluations” and going off his medication.
Colleen concluded the post by discussing Collin’s time in boot camp. He finds the experience challenging but is incredibly happy and thriving.
“He is a testament to strength and courage, and I am honored to have him in my life. Collin will always be part of my family, and I’ll support him, no matter what comes our way. That’s what family does,” Colleen finished. “The truth about Collin’s character deserves praise, not unfounded accusations from those estranged from his life.”

Kate and Jon Gosselin’s followers have had a wide range of reactions to all the allegations. But many Instagram users showed support for Collin on Colleen’s post.
“Biology doesn’t determine who is a mom and who isn’t. You’ve been such a great mom to him❤️” one Instagram user wrote in the comments.
“I am so glad you spoke up. Collin is so lucky to have had a motherly influence in his teenage years through you,” someone else added.
