One Reddit user toyed with the idea that Lawson might have married Tiffany to propel his singing career. Prior to marrying Lawson, she was an actress. While she isn’t extremely famous, it’s possible Lawson thought her fame could benefit him. The original poster referred to this marriage as a “business deal.”
One Bringing Up Bates fan speculated, “I feel like each thought they would gain career advancement from the other. Lawson through Tiffany’s television and film connections and Tiffany from Lawson’s reality show.”
Another chimed in, “I always felt like, especially with her college degree, that her post-acting career was going to be politics using BUB as the springboard.”
According to the Bates Family Wiki, Tiffany has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Religion as well as a Master’s Degree in Christian Ministries.
