The last time fans of American Pickers saw Frank Fritz on the show was in March of 2020. Shortly after that, Frank took time off to recover from back surgery. But less than a year later, the History Channel decided to ax him from the show. Frank’s co-star, Mike Wolfe, publicly shared with fans that Frank had been let go from the popular show. It all may have come down to a nasty feud between Frank and Mike, which mostly happened off-screen.

After Frank’s surgery, Mike asked fans to pray for his recovery. But Frank blasted his friend in return, calling him “arrogant.” In an interview with The Sun in 2021, Frank revealed that he felt the show favored Mike too much. He explained that the show was “tilted towards [Mike] 1,000 percent. I can’t even bend that far down to show you how much.” He added that it was fine, comparing Mike to Aerosmith’s frontman, Steven Tyler. Frank said that he had found his spot with the show, saying, “I’m second and he’s number one on the show. That’s no problem with me, maybe he does have a problem.”

But, Frank said, he was a bigger star with more pull among fans. And his words seemed to ring true. After Frank was let go from the show, ratings tanked. For the first time in years, American Pickers‘ viewership dropped to less than one million. The friends have since reconciled and reunited, but fans have yet to see them back together on the show.

Now, fans think that the network is hinting at Frank Fritz’s return.

The History Channel’s official Facebook show for American Pickers has been airing old clips that feature Frank. In a different fan group on Facebook, fans took note. Some asked if the network is just trying to drive up viewership by bringing the fan favorite back. Others expressed their hope that it was a sign of his imminent return.

Frank has battled ill health since leaving the show, including a stroke. But after two years to heal and re-prioritize, he could be heading back to American Pickers to give the fans what they want.
