Kate Gosselin Comes Out Fighting Amid Her Son’s Abuse Claims
Kate Gosselin stayed silent for a while as her son, Collin dished about alleged abuse by her but she came out fighting on July 21 and accused him of abusive behavior. The former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star backed up claims by her daughter Mady. Her statement came after her son spoke out on VICE TV’s docuseries, Dark Side of the 2000s.
Kate Gosselin Sent Collin To A Mental Health Facility
TLC fans met Collin when he was still a toddler. Many viewers commented that his mom seemed impatient with her ex-husband Jon and their eight kids. They included Mady and Cara, the twins (22), and the sextuplets. Cute kids, they were named Collin, Hannah, Alexis, Aaden, Jonathan, and Leah. Between the husband and wife, a lot of toxic scenes became apparent. Meanwhile, the kids made for a noisy bunch of rambunctiousness. However, Collin became the focus when he disappeared. Later, it emerged that his mom sent him to a mental institution for allegedly having “special needs.”

Jon kept quiet after his divorce, but once his TLC gag order ended, he came out fighting. Additionally, now that he’s 19 years old, Collin started speaking out. Jon claimed that Kate Gosselin didn’t tell him where she’d sent his son. Eventually, a letter arrived and Collin begged him to get him of his incarceration. Digging deep into his pocket, Jon told VICE TV that re-evaluations and legal fees cost him a million dollars. Since then, Collin lived with his dad and his sister Hannah, and the rest of the family cut him off. Right now, he’s in boot camp as he was approved to join the Marines.
Kate Gosselin Backs Up Her Daughter, Mady
Collin maintained that his mother kept him separated from his siblings, and he had to eat alone, and not play with them. When he mentioned it to a staff member at school, he believed his mother sent him to the institution to silence him. Believing he had an abusive upbringing, he sang out and his story was corroborated by Hannah and Jon. Mady, who was once seen kicking her little brother on national TV made a statement via Instagram that Collin was the abusive one. Now, via her own Instagram and PEOPLE Magazine, her mom backed up the story.
Certainly, it seems that Kate Gosselin just accused her son of fabricating everything that he said on Dark Side of the 2000s. Possibly angry that viewers accuse her of sending away a boy who didn’t need hospitalization, she fell back on how hard it is for people to understand “mental health” issues. In fact, she said that the reason she sent him away came because of “unpredictable and violent behavior.” Furthermore, she claimed that Collin became violent with “a weapon,” so a medical professional sent him to the institution.
Allegations Of Recent Violent Behavior
Kate Gosselin slammed it home like her daughter Mady. In her statement, she claimed that “Jon’s removal of Collin from treatment, my son’s unpredictable and violent behavior…sadly continued regularly towards Jon, Hannah and others around him.”
The young man did well at a military academy and gladly accepted officer training and college through the Marines. If his mom hoped he might find critics after her counter-claims, it backfired. In fact, her statement on social media simply generated backlash from readers.
One of them said, “But he somehow managed to complete high school with good grades, hasn’t been arrested as an adult nor has any criminal record. Not adding up Kate.” Do you agree? Sound off in the comments below.
