Former Bringing Up Bates star Esther Bates is sharing an intimate relationship detail with her followers. She opened up about something many of her fans didn’t know. What did she spill? Keep reading for all of the juicy details.
To kick off the weekend, Esther posted on her Instagram Stories and allowed fans to send in their questions and assumptions about her. She only received a few on Friday night but will likely continue responding throughout the day on Saturday. One of the assumptions sent in by a fan prompted a pretty juicy and intimate confession.

One fan wrote, “Assume you and Nathan kissed before your wedding day!” In response, Esther shared a selfie of herself and Nathan kissing while on a boat together. She added, “Yup!” So, they did kiss before they were officially husband and wife, despite the Bates family’s strict rules.

If you’re a fan of the Bringing Up Bates stars, you probably know all about their courtship rules. The Bates kids are expected to court rather than date, which means they are dating with the intent to marry. In most cases, they marry the first person they court, though some of them have courted multiple people before settling down.
With courting comes strict rules, including keeping PDA to a minimum until marriage. Sometimes, they don’t even hold hands until they are engaged.

On Reddit, fans reposted Esther Bates’ Instagram Stories post and shared their thoughts. It turns out that it didn’t quite surprise many of her followers. Some have long assumed they had kissed before marriage. This is because they seem to have great chemistry and are such a good fit.
One fan pointed out that this isn’t the first time that Esther has talked about kissing Nathan before their wedding day. According to the fan, Esther previously admitted that they kissed when they got engaged.
This confession seemed to earn Esther some love from Bringing Up Bates fans. Someone said, “I think out of all of the Bates/spouses Esther might be my favorite. She seems to do what she wants and isn’t ashamed to admit it.”
It’s unclear how Nathan’s parents, Gil and Kelly Jo Bates, feel about this confession from Esther. But at this point, the couple has been married for nearly two years and has a young daughter who’s almost one year old. So, it seems unlikely that it would be a big deal by now.
