Of all the father-son relationships on television, Al Roker and his son Nick Roker may have the best. Al is constantly praising his son and acknowledging his accomplishments. In return, Nick is always respectful and grateful for his father’s presence in his life.

Al is known for putting family first, and significant health scares last year just reaffirmed that dedication. The morning show host suffered blood clots in his legs and lungs. His wife and co-anchor, Deborah Roberts, shared that she wasn’t sure if he would survive to Christmas. But the tight-knit family managed to nurse their beloved patriarch through the year. And after two months away from The Today Show desk, Al was able to return to work.

Through all of the trials and tribulations they’ve experienced over the past few years, the Roker family has come out stronger than ever. And Al took a moment this week to praise his son on his 21st birthday. On Instagram, Al shared a slideshow of pictures from milestones throughout Nick’s life. He captioned the post, “Wow. #andjustlikethat 21 years ago, this young man changed our lives.” The doting father added, “Nick Roker, I love you and you make me so proud.”

Al Roker again took to social media, this time sharing an image of a breakfast meal sandwiched between two pancakes. He captioned the post, “Sending one Nick Roker off to work this morning with my version of the #mcgriddle.” So not only is Al a doting father but he’s his son’s very own personal chef. And, by the looks of things, he’s good at what he does. Fans in the comments asked, “So when is your restaurant opening???” Others commented that the food looked delicious. One simply replied, “Dad of the Year.”
