Kevin Costner’s Ex Blames His Greed For ‘Yellowstone’ Departure
Recently, it was revealed that Kevin Costner is no longer portraying John Dutton on Yellowstone. In recent divorce court documents, the award-winning actor’s lawyers revealed that he is no longer under contract to work with the Taylor Sheridan series.
Fans are shocked, but his soon-to-be ex-wife Christine Baumgartner has recently revealed that greed is why Kevin left the top show on cable. What does she mean by that?
Christine Costner Claims Kevin Costner Could Have Stayed On Yellowstone
Recently, Insider revealed a declaration made by Christine Baumgartner Costner about Kevin Costner’s departure from Yellowstone. It was regarding the star’s departure from the Paramount series.
The 68-year-old actor shocked viewers of the Taylor Sheridan series when his divorce papers revealed that he was not returning for filming the second part of Season 5. Therefore, he would not be getting a salary or any residuals. This means his projected 2023 salary was expected to be significantly less.
According to his soon-to-be ex-wife, he “could have continued.” But, Kevin had bigger plans that could result in a boatload of money.
Yellowstone Star Gave Up Series For Horizon
Christine Costner pointed out that “Kevin’s value as an actor has never been higher, especially after the success of Yellowstone.” However, she contends that her estranged husband had bigger fish to fry.
Kevin could have continued with the show, but he chose not to pursue the Horizon project.
Horizon is Kevin Costner’s four-decades-old dream project. This is an epic four-movie saga about the pre and post-Civil War, as well as the Western Expansion.
Costner is now working on the post-production of the first movie. However, conflicts with his ex at his $145 million Santa Barbara compound have caused commotion and delays in completing this project.
The Bull Durham has already mortgaged a piece of propriety and sunk in $20 million of his own money into this passion project. He also has two non-Hollywood friends who have happily invested in this project. He revealed he wants to complete work on this soon so that his friends can get their investment back.
However, in Costner’s court records, he has stated he will not get a salary for Horizon now. But, his ex insists he has left Yellowstone for a lucrative big screen project.
Calling him a “very money-focused person,” Christine believes he gave up Yellowstone for the money. It should be noted that she asked for $248 thousand a month in child support. In addition to that amount, she asked the court to have Kevin pay health care costs, extracurricular activities, and private school tuition for their three teenagers.
Earlier in the year, Kevin Costner asked Paramount for fewer days to film Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2. He needed time to start filming Horizon. This has caused chaos on the Paramount set.
Saying he's "money focused" like it's a slur while asking for 250K a month in child support.
Can we just talk for a minute about the absurdity of a woman leaving her husband then demanding her children (and herself) keep the lifestyle they're used to?!https://t.co/WuyN5vCaR3
