Does Kody Brown Control TLC Money Like Jim Bob Duggar?
Does Sister Wives patriarch Kody Brown control the money from TLC like Jim Bob Duggar does?
The Sister Wives empire has started imploding in recent months. With three out of four of Kody’s wives divorcing him, things are changing rapidly in the family. But the revelation of how unhappy most of the wives are has inspired fans to start asking more questions. Such as wondering just how controlling Kody is, especially with the money the family makes from TLC. Read on to find out if Kody’s controlling the cash like Jim Bob Duggar, or if it’s a more equitable financial situation.
Sister Wives Star Kody’s Family Is Changing Rapidly
Things are changing quickly in the Brown family. In 2021, Christine Brown announced that she would be divorcing Kody. In 2022, both Janelle Brown and Meri Brown announced that they would also be divorcing Kody. That left just Robyn Brown married to the Sister Wives patriarch.
Fans will watch the drama play out in front of the cameras when Season 18 of the show airs in August. But for now, reports suggest that Kody is downcast and heartbroken by the massive shift in his family’s dynamics. And according to other reports, Robyn may also be considering a split from their husband. Fans have been speculating about what could lead to the sudden dissolution of all of their relationships.
Some wonder whether the dynamic of plural marriage is too much for the four women. Others brush that theory aside, pointing to how happy the four have been at one another’s sides for all these years. Yet other fans are starting to question whether or not Kody is controlling. And who has a say over where the money goes from TLC when the family gets paid to appear on the show.
Does Kody Brown Control The TLC Money Like Duggar Patriarch Jim Bob?
So does Kody Brown control the TLC money the same way Jim Bob Duggar does, or does she share the wealth with his wives?
Jim Bob Duggar has long faced criticism for the iron fist with which he controls his family’s fame-gotten finances. According to critics of the show, Jim Bob intentionally thwarted his children’s education to make them easier to control when it came time to sign contracts and doling out money. But does Kody do the same thing?
On a fan forum for Sister Wives, one user points out that if Kody controlled all the money he would spend it all on cars. Others pointed out that the family created an LLC. According to comments made on the show, all of the money goes into the LLC. This allows each adult family member to access the funds. But some people take more than others. This could explain why one wife lives in a mansion now and another in a bare plot of land in an RV.
And as to whether or not the children receive money, the picture is even less clear. We know that at least a few of them received money from TLC for their weddings, or receive some form of payment. But whether or not the money for the younger children is held in trust or simply spent by their parents is unclear.
Kody may be a patriarch in a way that seems similar to Jim Bob. However, he does not seem keen on limiting his children’s education. Additionally, fans note that the Brown children are often outspoken and likely would have made waves by now if they felt they were being taken advantage of. This is a distinct contrast to the zipped-lips approach of the Duggar family.
Do you think Kody Brown has his fingers in all of the cash from TLC? Or does he share it equitably with his family? Let us know your thoughts in the comments. And catch Sister Wives season 18 when it premieres August 20 on TLC at 10 PM EST.
