MTV Took Advantage Of Leah Messer’s Drug Addiction
Leah Messer struggled with a very bad drug addiction during her filming of the famous MTV show Teen Mom. Messer was only 17 when she got pregnant with twin girls Aliannah and Aleeah. She struggled to finish high school and keep a relationship with the girl’s dad Corey. They, later on, broke up in 2010 but were back together and engaged by the end of that year. The girls turned one and Leah and Corey got married in October but then in April 2011 Leah admitted to cheating and the couple got a divorce in June 2011. In August of that year, Messer started seeing Jeremy Calvert, they got married in April 2012, then Leah gave birth to their daughter Adalynn, five weeks early in February 2013.
Leah Messer During Addiction
Leah Messer’s addiction started in 2013, shortly after she gave birth to her third daughter Adalynn, during the birth she received a “botched” spinal tap for a C-section to deliver her daughter. When she got home from having her daughter she was in a lot of pain and continued to take the pain pills, they helped her pain for a little but at some point stopped working. Leah’s relationship with her parents and Jeremy started to plummet and it was clear she needed some help. Messer’s father also struggled with substance abuse she claimed her father “pressed a couple of pills” into her hand. Leah showed obvious signs of abuse on Teen Mom so why didn’t anyone step in sooner to help her?

Could MTV Have Stepped In Sooner To Help The Young Mom
Leah Messer of Teen Mom thanked MTV for the help that they did eventually get her but she doesn’t understand why they didn’t intervene sooner. The mom of three said:
“You can see me high. Cut the cameras. You can see me falling asleep or whatever. Cut the cameras and immediately do an intervention… instead of using it for the benefit of TV and drama.”
The U.S. Sun reported, in pictures, the Teen Mom star shared on social media for National Recovery Month you can clearly see the dark circles around her eyes, and her sunken face. She looked extremely thin and her bones sticking out, the Teen Mom so desperately needed help. The producer claimed after watching footage of the young mom driving she pushed for Messer to go into rehab. A teen mom producer also released a statement regarding the situation stating:
“The production crew followed the principles of documentary filmmaking — we document, we don’t intervene.”
Leah still believes the cameras should’ve stopped filming at some point.
Leah Messer is now living her best life with her three healthy beautiful girls in their lovely home in West Virginia. The girls are all now grown and Leah is very happy with herself. She recently got engaged in August of 2022. Despite the love they showed for each other the two announced they split only two months later in October. It seems to have been a mutual thing but fans only wish the best for the Teen Mom star. What do you think about Leah’s claims about MTV taking advantage of her addiction? Do you feel that they did or that it wasn’t their responsibility? Sound off in the comments below.
