Kevin Costner Hopes To Keep His Wealth After Christine Baumgartner Divorce

Yellowstone star Kevin Costner’s impending divorce has been making headlines for nearly two months. Now, after he was “blindsided” by his wife of nearly two decades filing for divorce, he is hoping his prenup will protect this immense wealth. Can he keep most of his assets amid his divorce from Christine Costner, the mother of his three youngest children?

On Wednesday, People spoke to insiders with knowledge about the impending divorce. One source claims that the Field of Dreams star “wants to hold on to as much as he can.” That certainly does seem logical, as he has been the sole breadwinner in the family, as Christine’s designer handbag business does not seem to be thriving.

Per their prenup, she is entitled to $1.4 million. But she did sign it before the couple had their three children, Cayden, 16, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 13.

In a recent court filing, the soon-to-be-ex Mrs. Costner asked for an astonishing $248,000 per month for child support. This is not where it ends. The total amount of expenses she is demanding in addition to asking Kevin to pay for private school tuition, health care, sports, and other extracurricular activities each child should participate in. As their oldest child is just a couple of years away from college, that should certainly be another expense that the Bull Durham star may need to provide for.

Christine Baumgartner Costner attends that the prenup figure “is less than the amount needed to maintain the children in their accustomed lifestyle.”

Christine Costner Won’t Move Out Of Santa Barbara Compound

Currently, Kevin Costner’s ex will not move out of their luxurious $145 million Santa Barbara compound. In her filings, she contends that the monthly expenses she is requesting for their children are so that she can move them to a “suitable separate household.”

A source close to the 49-year-old former model says that, “She wants Kevin to provide what they are used to.”

Thanks to court filings, they are used to a very lavish lifestyle. According to these documents, the award-winning Yellowstone star earned nearly 20 million in 2022. From that, the family spent over $700,000 in credit card bills, and another $800,000 in gifts. Looks like being a close Costner friend has its perks.

But will the 69-year-old Costner get to keep most of his money? He is reportedly worth nearly $400 million. Firstly, the prenup is considered iron-clad. But, as one expert who is not an attorney for either Costner explained to the publication, the courts will decide what is right for the children. “The bottom line is what is the children’s best interests.” They will “consider their standard of living while their parents were married.”

What do you think is a fair amount of money to pay to Kevin Costner’s ex-wife?
