Chelsea Houska Requests Judge To Dismiss Lawsuit

Chelsea Houska is known for her role on the famous MTV show Teen Mom. Chelsea had her first daughter Aubree Deboer with Adam Lind in 2009. They shared a very rocky relationship on the show for a few years before Houska finally left Lind in 2013. Chelsea Houska then met Cole Deboer at a gas station in 2014, where it was love at first sight, the two later tied the knot in 2016. Houska and Deboer now have three more children together named Watson Cole, Layne Ettie, and Walker June. They live a beautiful life in their dream farmhouse in Vermillion, South Dakota.

Chelsea Signs Contract With A Company

Chelsea Houska was introduced to Envy’s owner Sara Nemerov by her manager William Dzombak, and they soon entered a contract in January 2015. Chelsea’s husband Cole then also signed on in 2016. The contract they agreed to stated:

“Only enter licensing agreements for the Property through Envy, to allow Envy to exclusively negotiate such agreements, to collect all resulting revenue, and to pay Envy 35 percent of all fees or royalties earned from the Property for domestic deals and 40 percent of all fees or royalties for foreign.”

The Amended Complaint revealed Chelsea’s daughters Aubree (13), Layne (4), and her son Watson (6) were involved in their social media promotions as “shared clients”. The court papers claimed:

“Chelsea and Cole breached their contracts by directing certain Brands to directly pay Chelsea, Cole, one of the other Shared Clients, and/or other persons or entities to avoid paying Envy Licensing Fees, but Chelsea and Cole failed to disclose such directions and payments to Envy and did not pay the Envy Licensing Fees owed upon such sums.”

Envy then sued them for $3 million for allegedly withholding money they received from their social media promotions. When they added the kids on, the lawsuit went up to $4 million.

Chelsea Thinks Judge Should Dismiss Lawsuit

Chelsea Houska claims Envy stopped providing any account statements from the fourth quarter of 2016 all the way until they finally received two statements in the months of July and August 2018. They also failed to display important information including the fees that were due in the statement they sent to Houska and her husband in July. She now wants the lawsuit dismissed and her financial records sealed. The Teen Mom star continued to allegedly say:

“Envy failed to issue any further statements despite its continued receipt of payments from brands from 2017 to August 2019 for work Cole and I performed. Nor did Envy make any further payments of the percentages of the payments it received from brands. Envy never explained why it was not paying us.”

The U.S. Sun reported that Houska and her husband finally decided to end their relationship with Envy due to their lack of providing accurate account statements in 2019. They were then served court documents from Envy in 2020.

Allegedly Chelsea Houska and her husband Cole Deboer have failed to perform a few other responsibilities to other companies including Carseat Canopy, Diff, Fab Fit Fun, Loving Tan, Profile Sanford, Sugar Bear Hair, and more. Do you think other companies will be reaching out to them for brand deals in the near future after this? Do you think they have enough evidence for the judge to dismiss the case? Sound off in the comment below.
