‘View:’ Whoopi Goldberg Makes Profane Slip Of Tongue On Air

The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg had the audience and talk show co-hosts alike stunned on Monday after she made a profane slip of the tongue on air.

The moment came as Whoopi was supposed to be reading the results of a poll about travel. Instead of the word she meant to say, the former Star Trek actress dropped a word that stunned the room to silence. Whoopi paused to take stock of things, then playfully blamed the show’s executive producer for the major faux pas.

When The View Talks Travel, Things Get Awkward

On a segment Monday morning, the co-hosts of the view turned their attention to travel.

For their Hot Topics segment, co-host Whoopi Goldberg was supposed to be reading a poll related to European travel. It follows another Hot Topics segment that aired in April. On that April 19 episode, co-host Joy Behar shared her own thoughts about European vacations.

At that time, Joy reflected on her experience while traveling abroad and encountering an Italian woman on her adventure. Joy explained that she came across nice people, “here and there.” But while on a train, she needed to use the restroom. And, Joy explained, one woman wouldn’t let her, so she “had to call one woman the b-word.” Joy tried to use the restroom in the first-class lounge, but the unnamed woman wouldn’t budge. She told her co-hosts that she begged to be allowed to use the restroom. But, unmoved, the woman wouldn’t let her. Joy added, “I said, ‘Listen, don’t be a b***h.’ She wouldn’t let me go.”

As it turns out, Joy’s comment about her travel woes, and the word she used, was somewhat prophetic. Both came back around when Whoopi made a slip of the tongue this morning.

During the Hot Topics segment, Whoopi read out a card about travel poll results. “A poll of 2,000 adults in the U.K. found that, when people travel, cuisine is more important to them than landmarks or b****es.”

Whoopi paused for a moment and re-read her card, then confirmed that she was supposed to say, “beaches.”

Co-hosts Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin erupted in laughter at the slip, and the stunned audience joined them after a moment. A bemused Whoopi took in the audience’s laughter and cheers before turning to the show’s executive producer, seated just off-camera. Whoopi said, “I’m sorry. It says beaches. This is y’all’s fault.” The co-host added, “I can’t even tell you why it’s their fault. We were talking about something else!”

The panel moved on, but not before co-host Ana quipped, “I will travel anywhere for a good b***h.”

It may not have been what Whoopi planned to say, but it offered a hearty laugh to both viewers and hosts.
