Is Mama June Shannon almost free of her daughters Pumpkin and Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson? The three ladies have had a contentious relationship for a very long time. Yet, it escalated in 2019 when Alana came to live with Pumpkin and her family due to June’s substance abuse issues. Finally, it came to a head in 2022 and they have struggled to recover. In April 2022, Pumpkin and her husband, Josh Efird took the proper legal steps to gain sole custody of Alana. She had been with them for three years and it seemed to be the most stable environment for the teenager. Mama June left her toxic relationship with Geno Doak and wanted to be more of a part of the family. Then, she left and went to be with a man in Alabama where she spent an excessive amount of money on an essential stranger. That was where she met her now-husband, Justin Stroud. Soon after, Pumpkin asked her mom to sign over custody to her and Josh. Unfortunately, Mama June did not like the idea of paying child support and money became the true obstacle.
Yet, is June nearly free of her two youngest daughters? A Reddit thread was started to discuss the future of June, Pumpkin, and Alana. The OP started it off by talking about Pumpkin’s child support for her sister. “She’s getting $800 from child support. Since June receives a disability check each month for $1050, so does Alana to the tune of around $500.00. Pumpkin was care give so she got the $500. There’s also other benefits that come with it. 18 and you are cut off from both.” Come August, Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson will turn eighteen so the clock is ticking.
Fans chimed in with their thoughts. Some were conflicted over Mama June mailing in her child support checks. They felt that made the storyline seem fishy. There were also questions about how much disability June was getting considering her income. However, papers obtained by The Sun did show she did get a considerable amount to the tune of $1050/month.
Winding Down
Mama June continues to complain about having to pay child support despite planning a lavish vow renewal. At the same time, she claims that she pays for a bunch of things that Alana wants. This includes pricey shoes and $100 nails. Fortunately, Alana is done with high school and on her way to college with a scholarship. She also fills her time with promotions. So, in a short period of time, June can be done with Pumpkin and Honey Boo Boo if she so chooses to be. At least in a financial sense.
