‘Lizzie McGuire’ Robert Carradine, 69, Unrecognizable: 2023 Update
It has been nearly two decades since Robert Carradine graced TV screens as the role of Sam McGuire, Lizzie’s father in the Disney series Lizzie McGuire. Turns out, the 69-year-old actor reunited with some of his former Disney co-stars recently. And, Lizzie McGuire fans were a bit shocked at how unrecognizable the Disney dad looked. Living Lizzie: A Very McGuire Podcast
Turns out, Jake Thomas (who played the role of Lizzie’s younger brother Matt in the series) created a podcast with Davida Williams (who plays the role of Lizzie’s enemy, Claire Miller) called Living Lizzie: A Very McGuire Podcast.
During episodes of their podcast, the co-stars have gone back in time and taken a look at various episodes of the series. Likewise, they also bring very special guests to the show from time to time. Now, in the episode they dropped three days ago, they welcomed Robert Carradine, 69, to the show.

During this episode of the podcast, Jake Thomas and Davida Williams sit down to discuss Episode 10 of the series titled, “Between a Rock and a Bra Place.” The two co-stars agree this particular episode is recognized as one of the most popular and most watched episodes because it was ahead of its time. The episode dived into the world of bras for Lizzie and that just wasn’t something children’s shows did during that time period.
About two minutes into the podcast, the doorbell rings and the co-hosts introduce their special guest for the episode: Robert Carradine.

After being introduced to the viewers/listeners, Robert Carradine is quick to tease is TV son that he’s “looking 20 years older.” Robert, however, fesses up that he’s clearly also looking a few decades older. While Jake isn’t happy to think about his own aging, he admits he has blinders on when it comes to his Disney dad. Jake Thomas clarifies Robert has always been “the adult” to him.
Considering his age, fans of Lizzie McGuire agree it wasn’t too surprising to see most of the actor’s hair had gone grey. But, he had also put on a fair amount of weight and the combination caused him to look unrecognizable as fans recalled how he looked on the show a few decades ago.

Robert Carradine tells his co-stars one of the questions he gets asked more than anything else is what was it like being on the set of the Disney series. He admits he tells people it really wasn’t that different from his normal life as he was a father of two children of similar age. So, he “went to work” and then he went home and “went to work.” Both Jake and Davida laughed as they realized they never thought about the situation like that.
