Last year’s Three Wise Men And A Baby was a huge Hallmark Christmas hit. This movie starred Andrew Walker, Paul Campbell, and Tyler Hynes as three brothers finding love.
Will the feel-good network make a sequel? Paul Campbell has that answer.
Will Hallmark Make Three Wise Men And A Baby Sequel?
Could Hallmark make a sequel to Three Wise Men And A Baby? On Saturday, one of the movie’s co-writers, Paul Campbell, spoke to TV Insider about that possibility. Unfortunately, he was told that Hallmark does not do sequels.
According to Campbell, the network told him, “We love the movie. We’d love to sort of work with you guys again in another capacity, but it’s just not going to be in the powers on this one.”
Lastly, he added that “the chances are zero,” and that it would require “a miracle” for this to ever happen.
Therefore, Paul answer is that Hallmark doesn’t make sequels. But, fans may want to quickly point out that this is not true.
What About Other Christmas Sequels?
Has Hallmark ever made Christmas sequels? They certainly have. Firstly, in 2021, Three Wise Men And A Baby co-screenwriter Kimberley Sustad starred in The Nine Kittens Of Christmas. This was a sequel to the 2014 movie, The Nine Lives Of Christmas.
Last year, A Cozy Christmas Inn was a sequel to Christmas Under Wraps. Although the setting was Garland, and the leading man and cast were all the same, Jodi Sweetin wound up as the leading lady in the sequel, as Candace Cameron Bure defected to GAF.
Also, we cannot forget the Cherished Memories movies starring Peter Porte and Ali Liebert. They have filmed two, and there are rumors there will be a third this Christmas.
That would mean two sequels to one Christmas movie, right?
Hallmark Does Regular Season Sequels
Despite Paul Campbell’s revelation that he was told that Hallmark does not do sequels, that is not true whatsoever. Besides two Darcy movies starring Ryan Paevey and Cindy Busby, there is a recent phenomenon on Hallmark. They made six movies all related to each other. Some could describe The Wedding Veil movies as multiple sequels.
The Wedding Veil series is now two-trilogies strong. Moreover, it seems likely that if all the strikes are resolved in time, there could likely be another trilogy in 2024.
The Hallmark decision to make a second trilogy contradicts the long-held policy of not doing any sort of sequel.
Late last year, Lacey Chabert shared that they wanted to do something different with the second trilogy of The Wedding Veil series. She thought it would be great to see what was next for those characters. In the first trilogy, they each found love. In the second, they grew families of their own, and dealt with some career changes.
Most of all, this three-movie sequel allowed viewers the opportunity to catch up with their favorite characters. As this trilogy had high viewership, it appears that fans thought the same thing. They were happy to see Avery, Emma, and Tracy again.
To sum it up, Paul Campbell has revealed that Hallmark says they don’t do sequels. That means there will not be another Three Wise Men And A Baby. However, they have. Perhaps they want something else from the talented scribe and three of their top actors?
