Whoopi Goldberg Tries To Bamboozle With Fakery, Viewers Furious
The daytime TV personality attempted to bamboozle fans of The View with some embarrassing fakery by pretending it was actually Friday despite the episode being pre-recorded. Skimming through chatter from fans of the talk show on various social media platforms, viewers weren’t too bothered the episode wasn’t live. The issue, however, for most was the fact that Whoopi Goldberg attempted to pull a fast one on everyone to make it appear as if the episode was actually a live broadcast.
When Friday’s episode aired, there was a very small notification on the bottom left of the screen informing viewers at home the episode was “previously recorded.” Following this notification, Whoopi Goldberg told viewers not to adjust their TVs as it was Friday and she was “here”. The audience could be heard celebrating as Whoopi proceeded to explain Joy Behar was missing because she was under the weather.
The crowd made a few sad noises and Whoopi agreed with them that Joy’s absence was sad. But, at least they could enjoy her company.
On Twitter, fans were pretty quick to tear into Whoopi Goldberg. Many told her she should consider just being honest with her viewers. Others noted she should be “embarrassed” for lying as the episode was clearly pre-recorded. Viewers continued to blast both the show and Whoopi for trying to fake being a live broadcast as it “wasn’t a good look.”
Moreover, there were plenty of viewers who thought it was wild that the show wasn’t live on such a historic day with Donald Trump getting indicted.
Some viewers couldn’t help but wonder if Whoopi didn’t know about the notification of the episode being pre-recorded when she pretended it was already Friday. There were even some who agreed this embarrassing blunder wouldn’t have happened if the writer’s strike was over.
