On social media, Katie recently revealed to fans that she took her three-month-old daughter, Hailey James, to get her ears pierced. It turns out that the response was not all positive. Many fans criticized the new mom and pointed out reasons that Katie should have waited until Hailey was older.

On Redditfans reposted Katie Bates Clark’s statement and talked about the issues she’s dealing with online. Immediately, many fans rushed to her defense. They think it’s bizarre that so many people messaged Katie to tell her they disapproved of this parenting choice. One Reddit user said, “Sending someone you don’t know a hateful DM because you don’t like a parenting decision they made is ridiculous.”

Many think that it’s “sad” that things got so bad that Katie had to issue this statement. Others are proud of her for sticking up for herself. Another Bringing Up Bates fan commented, “I always find it super weird how worked up people on both sides of this argument get.”

Several other Reddit users pointed out that ear piercings for infants can be the norm for many people. It’s not unheard of, and they feel that Hailey is well cared for.
