Clare Crawley’s Mom Was Not At Her Wedding, What Happened?
Former Bachelorette Clare Crawley married the love of her life on February 1. She and Ryan Dawkins had a small intimate ceremony that nobody was really expecting to happen so soon. One thing that was always important to Clare was having her mom at her wedding. However, she was not present for Clare’s special day. What happened? Keep reading to find out more.
Why was Clare Crawley’s mom not at her wedding?
Clare Crawley appeared on the Most Dramatic Podcast Ever with Chris Harrison to talk about her wedding among other things. It came up that Clare’s mom was not at the wedding. Where was she?
Most fans know that Clare’s mom has been in a facility living with dementia for quite some time now. She’s in the late stages of the disease and got really sick just before the wedding.
This small intimate ceremony was planned around Clare’s mom. None of Clare’s other family would even be there. It was mainly for her mom. She knew that she would not be able to attend a big wedding especially if it was in Mexico. So, they wanted to include her and make it special. However, the day before, her mom got really sick.
Clare said, “But my mom ended up the day before getting really, really sick. She wasn’t able to make it. She’s okay still, but she was just really sick at the time and couldn’t leave the nursing home.”
Even though her mom could not be at the ceremony, they still included her in the day. After they got married they went and got burgers and took them to the nursing home. Clare and Ryan even wore their wedding attire to see her mom.
Clare had a few tough moments involving the wedding. The first was that her wedding dress was stolen out of her car. The second is that her mom got sick and could not attend. Even with all that, she wouldn’t change a thing and still says it’s the happiest day of her life.
Their original wedding plans
When Clare and Ryan first got engaged, they were going to get married in Mexico on June 21. However, when Clare’s mom began to get sicker they changed their mind. She began to worry her mom might not make it that long. So, they planned the little ceremony and would invite everyone else to the bigger one they would have later.
Their first wedding ended up being perfect and intimate. Clare said their vows were very personal and she loved it. They even got married in the spot where they shared their first kiss.
So far Clare has not said if the second wedding is already planned.
What do you think about Clare’s mom being unable to attend the wedding? Do you have loved ones suffering from dementia?
